Carrie Denny Wagner obituary, 1963-2017, Charlotte, NC

Carrie Wagner Obituary

Carrie Denny Wagner, died peacefully surrounded by her family on February 7, 2017. She was 53 years old.

Carrie is survived by her husband Frank Wagner and children, Mark Wagner and Elizabeth Bradford, all of Charlotte, NC. She is also survived by her parents Dr Dale Denny and Judith Denny of Raleigh, NC, her older brother Mike Denny of Lusby, MD, her younger sister Mindy Johannessen of Rockville, MD, and her youngest sister Meg Ross of Leland, NC.

Carrie was born on March 2, 1963 in Columbus, Ohio. She moved with her family to Raleigh, NC in 1971. She grew up in the Oakpark neighborhood where she enjoyed many good friends and summers in the pool. She graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in accounting as the valedictorian of her class. She became a CPA and in 1985 joined the then Ernst and Whinney accounting firm in their Charlotte offices. She worked full time as a CPA until the birth of her first child, Mark, in March of 1989. Her plans to return to accounting were soon forgotten as she entered into her favorite phase of life, being a wonderful, full time mother. Elizabeth was born in June of 1991 to complete her family of four. Her husband, Frank's, career moved her family to a number of locations in the United States and a three year stint in Paris, France. Throughout the moves and locations Carrie was very active in the children's schools as a volunteer and leader. She was also heavily involved in their extracurricular activities from cheering to rowing. She loved her three years in France where she and her family explored France and Europe, and she, unlike the rest of the family, became fluent in French.

Carrie continued being an involved parent and followed her children actively as they went on to graduate from Georgia Tech and the University of South Carolina respectively becoming an active follower of their football teams. Carrie was also an accomplished artist, and she enjoyed painting all her life. She was blessed with the opportunity to see her daughter, Elizabeth, get married to Scott Bradford in October of 2015 on a beautiful day in Charleston, SC.

Carrie passed away peacefully after a short illness. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend.

A reception is scheduled for Saturday, February 11th at noon to be immediately followed by a funeral at 1:00 p.m. at Weddington United Methodist Church at 13901 Providence, Rd., Weddington, NC 28104.

Arrangements are in the care of Heritage Funeral Home, Weddington Chapel. An online guestbook is available at www.heritagecares.com

Dearest Denny family, I remember Carrie's tolerant nature as Mindy and "her crew" slept over numerous nights on Hollyridge. I looked up to Carrie and was in awe of her artwork proudly displayed throughout the house. My heart aches for you and the entire family. Keep the fond memories of her wonderful life close to your heart. Sending thoughts and prayers your direction. All my love -

Frank and family, I am so terribly sorry for your loss. Carrie was a wonderful and kind person and you both played a special part in some of my fondest memories. I remember during our days in Laurel Hills when you and Carrie first met. I was so happy for both of you because it was so clear to everyone that you two were truly destined to share your lives together. A love like yours will last far beyond this world.

I remember very vividly Carrie's charisma and delight for meeting new people and experiencing new cultures. We met in Paris after she had just arrived. She had such a love for adventure and took pleasure in everything new. Her children were her priority and I loved spending time with her. I am shocked and saddened to learn of her death. I hope that Mark, Elizabeth and Frank are able to support and encourage each other during this period of grief. Pascal and I both send you our sincere condolences. You are in our prayers. May her memory be cherished forever.

Dearest Frank, Elizabeth, and Mark,
We are both so sad to hear bout Carrie our beloved neighbour and friend in Croissy. I will always remember times with her spent on the Berge drinking beer, or meeting up with the boys at your camping car on the beach, or Alex's wedding which you came all the way to Paris to attend, or Carries visit to ct after we bought our home there....I regret that we did not get together more often even though we tried ... We are thinking about you all and are with you in this moment even though we are so far away. I will always remember her chuckling laughter and kindness... All our love, Betsy and Didier
