"Mr. Carter" and his wife "Mrs. Carter" were the other set of grandparents I never had. They were my neighbors when I was a kid and treated me like family. They were the epitome of friendly and went above and beyond what a neighbor should be.

Dear Carter Family,
We are so sorry to hear of the death of Mr. Carter. Both he and Mrs. Carter were our neighbors for 12 years. They helped welcome baby Clint and Joseph home from the hospital when they were born. They were toddler Garrett's first friends. I have fond memories of them saying they were going to "The Vegetable Store" (aka J&K cafeteria.) Also, when Mrs. Carter would invite the boys over to see her beautiful Christmas tree, my boys thought they had walked into a magical place. From their porch swing, Mr. and Mrs. Carter witnessed my sons grow up while running around and playing in the backyard with our dog, Sandy (who was also Susie's buddy.) Lastly, one of my most beautiful memories was seeing their wonderful, entire family come over for Christmas Eve. It was evident they were so full of love. Mrs. Carter and I spent many days chatting over the fence. Both she and Mr. Carter loved their family so much and gave me the best parenting advice. I am not a young mother now and two of my sons are adults. I can still hear some of your advice and I try to treasure every moment with my children. Mr. and Mrs. Carter - save a table for me at the Vegetable Store...please give Sandy a hug for me....If two people are in heaven, it's you. You made a big difference in our lives and my life in particular. To Rick, Mike, Carolyn, Terri, Gene and Dean - our family sends you our sympathy and love. We will miss your parents so much. Love, Dottie Sue, Tim, Garrett, Clint and Joseph Fowler
