Cornelia Davis Morse
SPRUCE PINE -- Mrs. Morse, age 87, died Thursday, June 10, 2004 in the Brian Center in Spruce Pine, NC. Mrs. Morse was born June 7, 1917 to the late William Cleveland and Flossie Caton Davis. She was a native Charlottean but had lived in Little Switzerland for many years. Cornelia was the beloved wife of Charles R. Morse Sr. to whom she was married for 63 years. 'Mom' was very dearly loved by her daughter, Nancy Leigh and husband Walter of Charlotte, NC; son, C. Richard Morse Jr. and wife Jeanne Morse of Laurinburg, NC; grandchildren, Sarah Virginia and Samuel Mason Leigh of Charlotte; she is also survived by her sister, Louise Boyce, brothers, Alan Davis and Cleveland Davis all of Charlotte.
Cornelia graduated from Queens University, formerly Queens College, in 1940. She was a charter member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Charlotte where she had been an active member of the United Methodist Women. Cornelia loved the mountains and her dogs.
A service of Remembrance will be held on Friday, June 18, 2004 at Cornelia and Charles' home in Little Switzerland.
A service of Remembrance will also be held in Charlotte, NC at a later date. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Mitchell Co. or the Grace United Methodist Church of Charlotte.
