David MacKay Obituary
David William Cameron Mackay CHARLOTTE - Mr. Mackay, passed away on November 29, 2012 at Asbury Care Center. He was the son of Scottish parents, the late James Dunnet Mackay and Dolinda Cameron Mackay and was born in New York City on January 4, 1927. Mr. Mackay was a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II and attended New York University and graduated with a BA in Accounting from Pace College, New York City. A retiree of Kraft, Inc. in Chicago, he and his late wife, Jean Lowder Mackay, relocated to Charlotte in 1986. Mr. Mackay then worked for Interstate/ Johnson Lane until his retirement in 1995. As an auditor for Kraft, he and Jean traveled the world. He was a member of the Fellowship Class at Myers Park United Methodist Church and attended until his health declined. He is survived by his stepdaughter, Joy Bass Wells and her husband, William P. Wells, Jr. He is also survived by two step grandchildren, Laura Wells Smith and her husband, Jerry, and William Lee Wells and his wife, Susan. Six step-great-grandchildren, Leslie Sims, Stephen and Kevin Wells, William and Haley Welch and Jared Smith survive as well as one step-great-great-grandson, Jacob Lee Wells. He was preceded in death by his loving sister, Elizabeth M. Galletto, and is survived by her husband, Dr. Antonio Galletto, of Burlingame, CA and four nieces and one nephew. He was lovingly cared for by the staff of Aldersgate United Methodist Retirement Community and Asbury Care Center including Dr. John Lacouture. Also gratitude is extended to Flo Puckett and Tanya Accordino of Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 3 at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of J.B. Tallent Funeral Service, 1937 Sharon Amity Road, Charlotte with The Reverend Erin Beall of Myers Park United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Sharon Memorial Park. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte, 1420 E. 7th Street, Charlotte, N.C. 28204 or Myers Park United Methodist Church, 1501 Queens Road, Charlotte, N.C. 28207.
