Dennis Edgar Thaxton

Dennis Edgar Thaxton CHARLOTTE - Dennis Edgar Thaxton, 68, passed away January 15, 2015, at The Pavilion Healthcare Center at Brightmore in Charlotte. He was born at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte on November 10, 1946, the second son of Ed and Mickey Thaxton, and was a life-long Charlottean. Dennis was a graduate of South Mecklenburg High School and East Carolina University, and began his professional career in 1972 at MidSouth Consulting Engineers in Charlotte until he retired in 2008 as a vice president. Dennis will be lovingly missed by his wife of 40 years, Mary Jo Thaxton; his three amazing daughters, Lisa Thaxton Lanier (Shawn), of Charlotte, Shell Thaxton (husband Alex Everett), of Durham, Kerry Thaxton Kifer (Mark), of Charlotte; and his two precious grandchildren, Wyatt Lanier and Isabelle Kifer. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert Thaxton and Gary Thaxton, and four beautiful nieces: Happy Little (James), Tuesday Mize (Josh), Amy Josey (Curtis) and Emily Bowers (Andy), and their children. The Thaxton family would especially like to thank the staff of Blessed Assurance Adult Day and Health Care Center and The Pavilion Health Care Center at Brightmore for the loving care they shared with Dennis. The family would like to receive friends and celebrate Dennis's life at 1:00 on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at The Pavilion Health Care Center, 10011 Providence Road West, Charlotte, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Liberty Hospice Services, 2334 South 41st Street, Wilmington, NC 28403, or to Blessed Assurance Adult Day Care, 13001 Idlewild Road, Matthews, NC 28105 or to the charity of your choice.
