Doris Agatha Hoover CHARLOTTE - Doris Agatha Hoover, 90 years of age, of Charlotte, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2016, from complications of Alzheimer's. She was born in Pickens County Alabama to the late Fletcher and Abby Freeman on March 1, 1925. In 1945 she married James Herbert Hoover and later moved to Charlotte where she enjoyed gardening and raised three sons. Doris worked for Herff Jones, Inc. for 47 years. She is survived by her brother, Clinton Freeman of Millport, AL; brother-in-law, Norris Hoover of Dixon, TN; her sons, Harlan (Kathy) of Concord, Richard (Joan) of Charlotte and Keith (Sharon) of Birmingham, AL; her six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 from 9:30am-11:00am at Hartsell Funeral Home, 460 Branchview Dr. NE, Concord. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 in the funeral home chapel and will be officiated by long time friend, Rev. Mike Wall. Burial will follow at Back Creek Friends Church, 147 Back Creek Church Rd., Ashboro, NC 27205. Memorials may be made to The Connection Church, 12001 Lullingstone Rd, Pineville NC 28134; or Hospice of Cabarrus, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081. Hoover Family,
Over the past twenty-six years we have been blessed to personally witness how important family was to each of you. Richard and Joan, I was so sorry to see notice of the passing of Mrs. Hoover. I remember her from our days on Windy Wood. She was a sweet lady and I am sure you will miss her greatly. She passed on the birthday of my mother, who we lost to Alzheimer's in 2014. Please take comfort in knowing that this horrible disease no longer has control of her mind and body. She sees clearly now and can enjoy once again the memories of her life. My heart breaks for you all and I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers as you grieve her loss.
