Dwight Irons Obituary

Dwight Garner Irons CHARLOTTE - Dwight Garner Irons, 52, of Charlotte, passed away on November 25, 2015, at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Lisa Redmon-Irons of Charlotte; son, Dylan Alexander Irons of Nashville, Tennessee; his mother, Peggy Garner Irons of Oneonta, Alabama; his father, Dr. George V. Irons, Jr. (Linda) of Mooresville, NC; and his uncle, Mr. William L. Irons of Birmingham, Alabama. He is predeceased by his brother, David M. Irons of Charlotte, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Horace H. Garner of Oneonta, Alabama, and Dr. and Mrs. George V. Irons, Sr., of Birmingham, Alabama. A graduate of Myers Park High School and Middle Tennessee State University, Dwight was a talented guitarist and musician who enjoyed football (especially the Alabama Crimson Tide), avidly following politics, and planting trees. He was very proud of his son Dylan, who spent several years in Korea and now teaches at Belmont University in Nashville. Dwight and Lisa nurtured a lively family of chocolate Labrador retrievers for a number of years. Dwight is greatly missed by his loving family and friends, who will always carry him in their hearts and minds. The family would like to thank the personnel of Novant Medical Center for the treatment Dwight received while in their care. A memorial service will be held January 2, 2016, at 11:00 A.M., at Myers Park Baptist Church, with the Rev. Joseph D. Aldrich officiating.
