To Mr.& Mrs. Rivera, My prayers will always be with you. Eddel came into my family three years ago.. Richard bought her home and introduced her to us as his fiance. We fell in love with her right away, she was beautiful, intelligent, funny, warm, kind and she loved Richard. They lit up a room together. We where teaching her how to cook some of Richard's favorite meals, and she was teaching us about her culture and foods she enjoyed. She was a great aunt to the nieces and nephews. She was my daughter's best friend. She enjoyed family time with us, birthdays, christmas. She was a good listener. She was always so bubbly, and energetic. I loved her as one of my own. The loss of Eddel and Rich has been very hard for all of us. You can always be proud of your daughter she was an angel she spoke of her love for you all the time. I know that they are together and we will see them again.
Richard and Eddel are deeply missed and our hearts are broken. May God bless your family in this great loss of our loved ones... sincerely, in my prayers and forever on my heart. Richard's Mom

To Eddel's Family,
I am truly sorry about your loss. I didn't know Eddel personally, but I had many classes with her at UNCC. We were both Biology majors. She was always so kind and very intellegent. I just wanted you to know that eventhough I didn't know her that well, I knew she was a great person with many accomplishments. I will always keep you and Eddel in my prayers.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Rivera,
Eddel was my bestfriend at Olympic and we promised that we would always keep in touch. I remember when Eddel, her boyfriend, Jayme, and I got together and went bowling. That was a great night. I am so sorry that I didn't know in time to pay my respects but, I want you to know that she will be missed always and you are in my prayers.

Eddel was my best friend in highschool. There was no place that we went where we didn't have so much fun. All my memories have here in it. She will be in my memories all my life. I loved her like a sister. She was always there for me. I tried to be there for her. Eddel was my angel, and I know that she is wastching over us all now. She will always be missed.

Eddel was like a daughter to me (as were Allison and Janis). I used to call them “Charlie’s Angels” because they were always together, so inseperable. I will never forget her face - gleaming with joy every time she eats my mocha cake (her favorite).
She will be missed dearly by our family.
Dell and Eddie – always keep in mind that God is with you and right now, your two angels are beside HIM…
Love and prayers,
Emma, Jimmy, Jason and Jay

I did not know Richie and Eddel for long. I was talked into joining a pool league and just so happened to be on Richie's team. I thought that Eddel was on our team too but after about a month, I realized she was not playing pool with us. She was there to support Richie. They were a very sweet couple and a joy to be around. After getting to know Richie, I was glad to finally meet someone who talked faster than me. Richie taught me how to Lag (sp?) - which is done before a pool match is played to determine who breaks. He was a great teacher. Eddel played sometimes during practice and she was a lot better than she thought she was. She told me that Richie taught her how to play when they started dating. For her being so new to the game, she was really good and obviously had a great teacher. My boyfriend and I were excited to have met a great couple to hopefully get to know better and spend more time together. They will be missed dearly. I am glad to know that they both had a lot of family and friends who can help support each other during this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Eddel was such a beautiful person and we all know where she is now...we will miss her so very much and I hurt so much for her family. I had the honor and priviledge to have her work for me when Kerr Drug was up at Steele Creek Commons. She was a joy to work with and such a loving and friendly teen. She loved her family first and formost and she never ever did anything that they would not approve of. She was something her parents can always be proud of and knowing them....they are. Remember God has a plan and as hard as it is to swallow this plan, I know you will and one day you will see Eddel again and all this pain will be gone. She loved you so much and always wanted you to be happy...remember this and smile. I am right around the corner (Merimac and Musket) if you need me. God is with you both, Debra Teal

To the Rivera family,
I am so sorry for the loss of your daughter Eddel. She was a very sweet and beautiful person. I met her and Richard at my brothers house where Richard was staying. They seemed like a happy couple and they were always with each other. My brother is taking it really hard because Richard was his best friend. My prayers go out to you and your family. May God bless and be with you always....

To Tito Eddie and Tita Dell,
My family knows what you are goig threw, because it is like she was part of our family too. Especially Allison. She is taking this really hard. Eddel was like an older sister to her, she watched over her all the time. Eddel was so nice to everyone in my family, she even went to mine and my sister Robyn's birthdays. Even the first time I met her I knew she would be different from the rest of Allison's friends. If they were going to the mall or just out, she would always invite me and Robyn. I am very sorry for your loss, and as I said before, losing her is like losing my older sister. But sometimes I really wish she was my older sister because she would be the nicest out of all six.

I'll never forget the 99'-00' New Year's party at my aunt's house where I first met Eddel. I remember exactly what she was wearing, a blue sweater and jeans. I was 12. Rich, I was introduced to by Eddel, I immediately saw how much joy he brought to her, and how much they loved each other's company.
For those who knew Eddel knew how polite, smart, and such a genuine good person she was. I can not recall one moment where her and I had a fight through out our friendship, not one single time. She guided me through the hardships I went through, and guided me to make the right choices. We shared composing and reviewing beautiful poetry we had written, with one another. And I will always remember the many events we attended together, and all the laughs we shared, and tears. Today and for the rest of my life, I will share these tears with many others who loved and knew her.
I'll always remember Rich as that funny, confident, open-minded man. We spent months sharing time with Eddel, and from the start I could see how much love and devotion he had for my best friend. Richard definately passed the test I always have for anyone pursing my closest friend...he took care of Eddel, and I am forever greatful she has him, because she deserves nothing more than the best.
(((Tita Dell & Tito Eddie)))...I LOVE YOU TWO SO MUCH, and will always be here when you need me. You raised a beautiful, intelligent young woman, and Eddel is one of the greatest friends I will ever have.

Dear Del and Eddie,
Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are always with you. Your angels are in heaven right now...
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sadness, joy.
Lord, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console.
To be understood, as to understand.
To be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned.
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life...
God Bless You ~
