Elvis Irrie Newkirk
Mr. Newkirk, 47, of Charlotte, NC departed this life on October 3, 2003. Born in Jacksonville, NC on June 28, 1956, he was a graduate of Jacksonville High School and UNC-Charlotte.
Mr. Newkirk was employed with Okuma America for 11 years.
Those who knew Irrie will always remember his love for God, his family and his church. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Stevenson Newkirk, his children, April and Avery. His parents Avery and Lula Doris Newkirk of Jacksonville, NC; two brothers, Dennis of Texas and Stephen of Greenville, NC.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at Steel Creek at Charlotte, 1929 W. Arrowood Road. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Robinson Family Cemetery in Ivanhoe, NC on Wednesday, October 8, 2003, 10:00 a.m.
A.L. Jinwright Funeral Service is serving the Newkirk Family.

My brother received the ultimate promotion... He died firmly rooted in Jesus Christ. To his wife Lisa, daughter April,and son Avery, take comfort in knowing that Elvis loved you and that he's going to a better place. To my Mother and Father, you did an outstanding job in rearing sons with the knowledge that Jesus Christ is King.

I was so sad to hear of Irrie's death today! Thoughts of his love for God AND his people overcome me!

I have known Irrie since I was just a young person and know he will be missed by all who knew him.

I remember meeting Irrie my first day at Okuma (Jan '90). By the end of the day I knew he was the kind of person you want as a friend. He could speak his mind w/o offending others and would always lend a helping hand. I can only think good thoughts when he comes to mind. He was a good coworker who always did his work and more.

Irrie was a wonderful man and I enjoyed working with him for many years at Okuma. He often spoke about his faith and love for his family.

I know he has found peace and is now with the Lord but will be sorely missed by his friends and family.

He is now looking out for all of us now.

I worked with Irrie at Okuma. What a gentleman and a gentle man. He will be missed by those who knew him and the world will be poorer because he is gone. But Heaven holds Irrie, the Angel!!!!

What a joy it was to have know Irrie! He always had such joy and love for the Lord and brought such hope and encouragement to every one he met. He loved his family and enjoyed them so much. What a wonderful friend he was! He will be dearly missed and I continue to pray for you all as you adjust to not having him as a part of your lives.
