She was born in Charleston, SC, October 20, 1938, the daughter of Nathaniel Dow and Virginia Mayo Henderson. Early in her life, she moved to Charlotte, and considered herself a native. She graduated from Myers Park High School, and attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Mrs. McMillan was a member of the Costume Committee of the Mint Museum Auxiliary, past president of the Charlotte Architect's Auxiliary, and for many years, active in her church and the schools her children attended. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and derived much joy from helping others. Mrs. McMillan was predeceased by her husband, Randolph Kay McMillan, in December 2012. Margie, Judy and Lynda,
May you feel God's abundant grace and mercy as you mourn the loss of both parents so quickly. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. A quick memory-some time in elementary school (Selwyn), my cat, Dynamite was missing. Your Mom brought me a bowl of gold fish to help console me. It was out of the blue and un-expected. Dynamite returned several months later and I still had my goldfish.
Blessings,
Cindy Snoddy Stone

I am so sorry I was unable to attend your Mom's funeral, previous commitments made it impossible. I worked with your Dad for several years, 1st with MWM and then MM Architects. My experiences with your Dad were so warm and fun, just like him and your Mom was no different. As I read about her I realized how close in age we were and when I would call her Mrs. McMillan she would hate it. What a wonderful and kind lady she was. Your Dad loved her so much, nothing was too good for Ethel. I had such a good time with them both, so sorry we drifted apart after I left the firm to have our second child. I have wonderful memories of your parents. You girls were so loved and so blessed. My prayers are with you all, Marion Rogers
