Frank Maresca Obituary

Frank Michael Maresca
NEW HAVEN, CT -- Frank Michael Maresca passed away on the morning of March 24th. In his passing, the world lost a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Frank was born in New Haven, Connecticut on March 5th, 1922, son of the late Luigi and Giovannina Maresca. He spent a majority of his youth in New York and was a graduate of James Madison High School in Brooklyn. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving as a plane handler on the USS Kwajalein CVE98 in the Pacific Theater during the Second World War. He was a recipient of numerous medals and honors for his service. Upon returning to Connecticut, he was trained in the craft of furniture refinishing, a profession that he loved, working at Wayside Furniture of Milford for thirty-seven years before retiring in 1987.
Frank and his wife Gilda moved to the Charlotte, NC area in 2004 to be close to their daughters and grandchildren. He enjoyed life in North Carolina but always considered Connecticut his home.
Above all else, Frank loved and was proudest of his family and was greatly loved in return. He leaves behind the love of his life, Gilda (Ferriolo) Maresca, his wife of sixty years; three daughters, Joanne Maresca and son-in-law Michael Paradie of Sandown, NH, Lisa (Maresca) Huey and Janet (Maresca) DeFilippo of Matthews, NC; seven grandchildren, Meredith Paradie, Justin Huey, Kristen Huey, Jillian (DeFilippo) Caudle, Sondra DeFilippo and Jordan DeFilippo, and great-granddaughter Paityn Hill. He was eagerly awaiting the arrival of his great-grandson Graham Caudle. He is also survived by his brother, Louis and pre-deceased by brother Dominic and sister Serafina Maresca. In addition there are several nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law.
Family and friends may call Thursday, March 29th, from 5-8 pm at the Iovanne Funeral Home, Inc., 11 Wooster Pl., New Haven, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Frank's life will be held at St. Michaels Church, New Haven, CT on Friday, March 30th, at 10 am.
