My fibromyalgia has been under control for 2 years and this morning I was going to make an appointment with Dr. McCain. I am so very saddened to hear that he has passed away. I know of some of his medical struggles. He was truly one of the best doctors (people for that matter) that I have ever met. He sincerely cared about his patients. I will miss him as I'm sure many of his other patients already do. God be with you.

Dr. McCain was, ho holds barred, the best doctor that I have ever had. He was the only doctor who treated me like an intelligent woman and not just another pain patient. He was not afraid to treat my pain (I have fibromyalgia and lupus) and was always there for me. His office staff was wonderful, too and he always had a joke and a smile for me and for my husband as well. We miss him so much....I have not found a doctor who can come close to replacing him. He did so much good here on Earth...I know they are rejoicing to have him in heaven!

I just became aware of Dr. McCain's passing on this day by Dr. Medlin's nurse when I called in search of Dr. McCain and they were kind enough to return my call. So my grief starts today! Dr. McCain believed in me when no one else did and diagnosed me with Fibromyalgia & later Lupus SLE. I shall miss his smiling face and the jokes he shared on our walk down that hallway. I will forever be thankful for just knowing him, for he never just treated you like your Dr but also like a friend. To his family I know I send my sympathy a little too late, but still the the same I leave my condolences.

I just found out that Dr. McCain passed away. Dr. McCain is the one who found my Fibromyalgia, and helped me get it under control. I always looked forward to seeing him, because he was sweet and really cared about how I felt and tried to help me feel better. I spent years of going to other doctors that done nothing, but giving me shots in my back and never helping me. I will miss him, but yet I know he is in a better place. My condolences go out to his family, I pray that god helps you get though this hard time in your life. Dr. McCain you will be missed dearly.

Dr. McCain's Family,
I just found out yesterday from my M.D. that Dr. McCain passed on to be with our heavenly Father. He was my R.A. doctor for 17 yrs. He has been a very important part of my life and my family. He watched all my children grow-up. He made it possible for me to function under what we label as "normal" so I could be the kind of Mom that I have been.
I always shared my faith in the Lord with him through the process of my diagnosis and treatment. Few times we disagreed on treatment but in the end he knew Who was in charge.
I will never forget the day he told me that we would be in heaven together. He was so excited to tell me that he finally understood what made me tick and shared with me what he was learning about the Lord. It forever, changed him as a doctor.
Telling him good-bye as my RA doctor back in Oct. of last year was very difficult for me even though, at the time I was in full remission. I knew it would be the last time I saw him this side of heaven.
I will continue to keep u all in my prayers. Be assured he knew our Lord and Savior.
With Deep Sympathy and Love,
Julia Hines

He diagnosed my fibromyalgia, encouraged me, gave me the gift of the pain clinic "next door", but mostly he made me laugh and enjoy a Dr. visit. I'm a better person physically and emotionally because of this Dr. and he will ever live in my thoughts & heart.

One day during my visit with Dr.McCain, we discussed his cancer and not my pain. This brought about our discussion on eternal life through believing in Jesus as his personal Savior. He asked me how to do that...right there in his office he bowed his head and asked Jesus into his heart. Rest assured that because of his decision, Glen McCain has seen the face of God and is resting in His arms...no more pain, no more sorrow!

He will be missed!

I was a patient of Dr. McCain. Over the years he became a good friend of mine and helped me thru a sad time in my life. I was so grateful that I had his name put in a journal that I had published to help raise awareness of domestic violence.
May God bless you in this sad time of your life.

Dear Mrs. McCain & Family,
While each of you have your own personal loss of your husband, dad, father-in-law and grandfather, there is a deep loss of a wonderful doctor, friend and healer. As a patient of Dr. McCain, I feel a deep void. I like to think of him in such terms as "My Miracle Worker" and "The Big Joker". At my first visit, I had doubts if I would ever be able to walk again. As my husband (Jim) wheeled me into his office, I was in pain, depressed and teary eyed. I left his office still in pain but was smiling and had some hope. Within a few weeks, I graduated from the chair to a cane and finally walked unasisted. Thus my reasoning for dubbing him "My Miracle Worker". If I heard a good joke, I would always try and remember it to tell "The Joker" because I knew he would have one for me.

I have assurance that when Dr. McCain entered heaven, our good God was waiting with open arms saying "Well done good and faithful servant". May he rest in peace and may your pain of his loss lessen for each of you as you remember your family fun times, the miracle worker and the great joker.

Love and light,
Sharon Glose

I am truly heartbroken and this is very difficult to write. Dr. McCain and I prayed together from the very first time he told me he was sick. I made appointments with him even though I didn't need to, just to see how he was doing. This is just how special a doctor he is. Heaven is richer now with another angel. I have peace in my heart knowing that we will meet again one day and neither of us will be in pain. Much love and prayers to his family.

I was so saddened to hear of the passing of Dr. McCain. I called on his office professionally in pharmaceutical sales and was impressed with his knowledge and how he cared for his patients, from the first day I met him. Through all his treatments, he always welcomed me with his cheerful personality and we had some special conversations about quality of life and living each day. That he did, and was and is, such an inspiration to others. God bless his family.

To the McCain family-
As you grieve, I hope you can find a small sense of comfort in knowing what a profound impact he had on so many lives, mine included. Over the 10+ yrs as a patient of his, he helped me immeasurably, mostly with an intuitive wisdom no med school can teach. How he helped others was so admirable especially considering he was battling a disease far worse than any Rheumatological condition. What an inspiration to us all.

Danella,
My heart grieves that Glenn as left before me. It was an honor to play a part in your coming to Charlotte. I pray that you will endure the pain of mourning and that you will continue to grace Charlotte in his memory.

August 22, 2010

To the McCain Family-
I extend my deepest sympathy. Dr. McCain was such a special doctor who helped me to regain a normal life after diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia. During the 12 years as his patient, Dr. McCain did not just treat my illness, but engaged me with discussions, and even drew pictures often to ensure my understanding. He encouraged me to keep moving and live a healthy life. He was such a caring and compassionate person. I will always remember his personal greeting and walk down the hallway. I will always hold a special place in my heart for my doctor, supporter, and friend, Dr. Glenn McCain.

I was Dr. McCains office manger for 12 years.Words are truly inadequate to do him justice.Day after day, year after year,he never ceased to amaze me with his compassion and knowledge.Unless you were a patient, or observed him as I did,it is hard to describe his skills as a physician. He was given the gift of healing. Not just the body but the spirit. My years with him are some of the most cherished of my life.God bless you Danella and all the family. I will miss you Dr. McCain.

Dear Danella and all Family McCain,

Simple words are never adequate to sufficiently commemorate the lives of special people. To me Glenn was both a friend and family. I will forever cherish fond memories of the many joyful days we shared doing the things we both enjoyed so much. His wisdom and humor were shared equally and always added immensely to whatever activity or discussion was at hand. It was a real privilege to be his friend and a patient. My heart goes out to all of you.

Most Sincerely,

My condolences to Danella and the family. Over the 12+ years I saw Dr. McCain I enjoyed visiting him, if enjoyment can ever be applied to the doctor-patient relationship. He and I and the office staff had many good laughs. He will be in my heart and thoughts for a long time to come.

To the McClain family:

It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Dr. McClain. He will forever be remembered for his humanity and professionalism in treating my illness. Please accept my deepest expression of sorrow in sharing your loss.

August 21, 2010

I am very sorry to see the news of Dr. McCain's passing. After suffering for many years in pain Dr McCain was able to set me on a pain free path. I have been able to enjoy sports (and physical activity) without fear of joint pain. When I first met him, he listened, and then appologized to me on behalf of the medical profession that had only treated my pain symptoms, and not treating the actual cause. He had a locker near mine at the YMCA. I will surely miss him. My thoughts go out to his surviving family.
Respectfully,
Van Chilton, Matthews NC.

Dearest Meredith and family -- Words are so hard to find and so inadequate in conveying what we want to share. Perhaps this poem comes close. Our thoughts are with you. Glenn lives on in you. All our love.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die! - Mary Frye (1932)

I was very sorry to read of Dr. McCain's death. I came to him in significant pain 6 years ago. He listened to me and within a matter of days had made my life better. I so appreciated his professional manner, but quickly came to enjoy our visits on personal topics as well. I genuinely liked Dr. McCain and have missed seeing him. May your grief quickly be replaced by memories of a great man. My thoughts are with you all. You did a lot of good, Doc. RIP.
