Harry McGinn Obituary

Harry Gallant McGinn III
'Buddy'
Mr. McGinn, 46, went to be with our Lord Jesus on March 13, 2010. Son of Harry and Virginia McGinn, Buddy was born June 26, 1963 in Charlotte, NC.
He graduated from Olympic High School and received an associate's degree from CPCC. He loved cars and was an avid racing fan. He also enjoyed cooking and loved to experiment with different recipes. He had a love for music, especially jazz, and was an incredible handy man. Buddy loved everyone he came in contact with especially his family, nieces, nephews and many friends. He was a true friend to many and had an infectious smile.
In addition to his parents, Buddy is survived by 3 sisters, Laura Lindsay (Jim), Betsy Lisk (Buddy), and Rebecca Tilley (Robert), nieces and nephews, Virginia and William Lindsay, Cameron and Garrett Lisk, and Christian and Daniel Tilley. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Virginia and Cameron Terry, Harry and Edna McGinn, and special friend Gina Limpert.
The funeral services will be held on Friday, March 19th, at 11 a.m. at Steele Creek Presbyterian Church, 7407 Steele Creek Road. Graveside and visitation in the chapel will immediately follow the service.
Donations may be made to the Steele Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund, or the Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church Choir Fund.

Thinking about you today.

April 20, 2010

Wish Heaven had a phone so I could hear your voice again. I thought of you today, but that is nothing new. I thought about you yesterday, and days before that too. I think of you in silence, I often speak your name. All I have are memories and a picture in a frame. Your memory is a keepsake, from which I'll never part. God has you in his arms, I have you in my heart!

Our prayers are with the whole McGinn family during this time of grief. We will always remember Buddy as a cheerful person that never met a stranger. We double dated to the Myers Park prom in 1981. I will always remember that and his love for his Chevy Nova. God Bless.

Dear Mcginn Family,
I am praying for you all, for strength, acceptance and peace. I also am praying for my own understanding during this time,to understand Gods plan in bringing Buddy and I close together this last year. He has a plan for all of us. Mr. Mcginn, Buddy REALLY spoke a great deal to me about you, his concerns, his fears and also his undeniable love..for his entire family. May Gods peace be with you all, and if there is anything I can do please dont hesitate to call me.

To the McGinn Family,
I have always felt close to all of you while I lived in Charlotte. For a period of time you were like a second family to me. Buddy was my best friend and I loved him dearly and especially his laugh as everyone did. My heart is heavy this day as are many, many others so I have a poem to ease minds of family and friends as I found peace as well.

"YOU NEVER SAID GOODBYE"

You never said I'm leaving
You never said goodbye.
You were gone before I knew it,
And only God knew why.

A million times I needed you,
A million times I cried.
If love alone could have saved you,
You never would have died.

In life I loved you dearly,
In death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place,
That no one could ever fill.

It broke my heart to lose you,
But you didn't go alone
For part of me went with you,
The day God took you home.

God Bless the McGinn's during this difficult time and Buddy...RIP My Friend.

Harry, Virginia, Laura, Betsy, and Rebecca,

I know God will bring a peace to your hearts.

Buddy and I always had great times together, listening to jazz, hanging round the fire barrel, and cooking on the grill.

He will be sorely missed.

It is impossible to think that Buddy won"t be with us any longer. He was always ready with a smile and an offer of help. When I would visit He always said, stay and eat. He gave so much of himself to his family, especially his father, Harry. I will miss him being here on the street where I live.

McGinn family,
I can't even imagine the pain and loss you are feeling. I pray all the wonderful memories of fun, laughter and the countless special times with Buddy will bring you comfort. He was always friendly, smiling and had a warm hug waiting. Having known Buddy since 'before I can remember', I have lots of great memories of my own. I think the first may be tricycle races in kindergarten. The last was awhile back when I ran into him and we talked just as if there had been no lapse of time. That's was the beauty of Buddy. A loving, accepting spirit that will live on with us all. May God bless you and keep you in this same loving spirit.
