Harvey Sloop Obituary

Mr. Harvey Allison (Bill) Sloop Sr. of Cornelius, NC, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2002, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. Mr. Sloop was born January 28, 1919, in Mooresville, NC, to the late Elsie Dingler and Hiram M. (Maurice) Sloop. He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, a US Army Veteran of World War II, and a member of American Legion Post 321 of Huntersville, NC. He retired from Trans Continental Pipeline, as Chief Engineer, after thirty-two years of service.
Survivors include his grandson Jeff Sloop and his wife Amy of Laurinburg, NC, granddaughter, Melissa (Missy) Leroy and husband Shawn of Denver, NC, sisters, Peggy Thompson of Mooresville, NC Virginia Cranford and Joyce Wiggins both of Mt. Mourne, NC and four great grandchildren. Mr. Sloop was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Goforth Sloop and son, Harvey Allison Sloop Jr.
Graveside Services with Full Military Honors will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, June 03, 2002, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Larry Joyner officiating. The family will receive friends 7-8:30 PM, Sunday, June 02, 2002, at Raymer Funeral Home. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post 86, of Cornelius, NC.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests Memorials may be made to the Cornelius-Lemley VFD, PO Box 311, Cornelius, NC 28031.
Raymer Funeral Home of Huntersville, NC, is in charge of the arrangements for the Sloop Family.
