There is not a day I don´t think about of talk about him and miss him. His advice, his encouragement to push these cardiac kids of his to new limits and to try everything they can was unlike anyone else´s advice. He was always so encouraging and so all encompassing in his care and compassion about the totality of every child! My son is here because he was wholeheartedly encouraging and so calming. Rhys adored him as did the rest of my family, I wish we were able to tell him what he meant to us - we just totally took it for granted. What a legacy he left!

My family was so blessed to have Dr. Herlong in our lives. He not only helped my son have life, but he took the time to always pray with him and make him feel comfortable in every single thing they had to do. He made dr visits so much fun for my son, and for that, I am forever grateful! It won't be the same, that's for sure, but I know without a doubt that he is smiling down on all of his patients! We will forever let his legacy live with my son! Prayers for the family and staff members as they deal with this great loss. Please know that he will forever be in our hearts!

We have been blessed to know Dr. J. Rene Herlong since January 2009 after our heart son was diagnosed in utero. He has left an imprint of love, life and a bright future for our young son and ourselves. He was an extraordinary giving soul. HE has left a remarkable legacy for his life's work. We are better for having known him and he will be sorely missed by so many. We loved our Dr. Herlong!
