Charlotte, North Carolina - James Thomas Sullivan Sr of Charlotte, passed away May 13, 2023.
There will be a celebration of life, June 3, at 2:00 at Living Saviour Lutheran Church. 6817 Carmel Road, Charlotte.
Surviving are his wife, Linda Johnson Sullivan, his son James Sullivan, Jr and wife Missy, his daughter Christy Sullivan Harbinson and husband Andy and their three sons Josh, Jeremy and Aaron.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Jim's passing, and I apologize for waiting so long to leave a message. I had the honor of meeting Jim through a friend who knew how much I loved the F4U Corsair (as did Jim) and put me in touch with him. I spoke with Jim on the phone a few times over the next few years, and we regularly exchanged emails. He shared with me hundreds of photos from his personal collection, and they are treasured by me as was my friendship with him. Fair winds Jim, I will miss you.

Jim and I spent the past 25 years or so seeking details of the contribution of the F4U Corsair in the Pacific in WWII and beyond. He never wavered in his humor, expertise, and generosity to share his knowledge, advice, and photographs from his massive collection. He leaves behind a terrific family as well as a massive photography collection as well as hundreds of award winning model airplanes he built for decades. All who knew Jim and were gifted by his kindness and knowledge will miss him sorely.
