Vancouver, Washington - Jane Rea Clute, age 83, of Vancouver, WA, passed away September 14, 2023. She was born July 20, 1940, outside Charlotte, NC. It's with sadness that I found this obituary only now in 2024. Jane and I were close, close friends from 7th grade through high school and much beyond. We were "at home" in both of our parental houses. My husband and I even visited in Vancouver in 2016 or so. Even though we have lived out adult lives far apart, Jane was the type of friend with whom "you can start again where you left off." Seeing this obituary floods my mind and heart with wonderful, wonderful memories cooking, biking, planning and dreaming together. Another little part of me is missing with her. Love to all the family!

I had the pleasure of working with Jane at the rock hill evening herald in the 70s. I was sports editor and Jane was family living editor, and was so very gifted in her writing style. A real talent and a good colleague to work with. Rest in peace, dear Jane.

I was a member of Covenant Presbyterian with Jane. She would do anything asked of her and do it well. We socialized with the Clutes and have many fond memories. May the Lord bless and comfort her family.

Ms. Clute was a wonderful friend to our mother Peggy Angel. One Mother's Day her column was all about my Mom and her family. Mom was thrilled and honored. Ms. Clute style was one of love and compassion and so enjoyed by all. No doubt she and Mom are catching up in heaven!!! Prayers for comfort to you all. Shari Angel Newman

Just read Jane´s obituary! I´m stunned but know that time is passing quickly for our generation. I grew up with Jane, going to church, school and sharing our lives as we matured and had our own lives! I treasure our memories and my love to James(Matt) Jim and Cindy(Rea). We´ve all been blessed!
Your life long friend

I was one of the very fortunate girls that grew up with the areas on Rea farm with my horse. The entire Rea family is so incredibly giving and loving.
Jane and Matt were no different.
She loved her family dearly. She will be greatly missed.

I used to enjoy her columns and didn´t know her personally but knew she was a special lady of many talents. I was privileged to teach her son Jimmy, who was exceptionally bright and also showed great integrity. Prayers for the family.
