Janet Fulmer Ahern
October 5, 1928 - June 29, 2023
Charlotte, North Carolina - Janet Fulmer Ahern passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Sharon Towers. She was born October 5, 1928, in Batesburg, SC to Henry and Annie Teague Fulmer.
Jan grew up during the Depression and World War II in several cities in South Carolina and in Washington, D.C. She graduated from the University of South Carolina and later earned a master's degree from University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Jan's interests included reading, travel, and taking walks. Her book club, supper club, opera events, historical society, and cat companions kept her busy and entertained. She also volunteered at the Urban Ministry Soup Kitchen.
Her church, First Presbyterian, held a special place in her heart, and she was a devoted member.
Jan's greatest joy was being the mother of her three children and later a grandmother to four.
Jan is survived by her daughters, Kate Reilly and her husband, John and Sally MacDougall and her husband, Jim; son, Patrick Ahern and his wife, Emily; grandchildren, Sarah Puffer, Charles MacDougall, Christopher Ahern, Tucker Ahern, and great-grandchildren Eric Puffer and Cameron Puffer. She was predeceased by her sister, Caroline Fulmer Morris and brother, Lynn Fulmer.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 18, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered in memory of Jan to First Presbyterian Church, 200 W. Trade Street, Charlotte, NC 28202 or Via Health Partners (formerly Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region), 7845 Little Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28226 or the Humane Society of Charlotte, 1348 Parker Drive, Charlotte, NC 28208.

Jan was a delightful member of Chapel Bible Class at First Presbyterian . She always had a good word in season to share. Jan was steady and helpful. She was an encourager of all who taught that class and I was one of several. Will miss Jan. Bonnie Gilbert
