Jean Edwards Muhleman

1938 - 2016

Jean Edwards Muhleman, 78, beloved wife, mother and friend; took the hand of her Lord Jesus, Thursday night, December 22, 2016 and left earthly pain for the perfect peace and joy of heaven. She was a Charlotte native and a month from her fifty seventh wedding anniversary with her husband Max Muhleman. Her passing was at CMC-Main, where she was being treated for cancer.

Jean was the daughter of Walter Lee and Virginia M. Edwards. In addition to her husband she leaves behind two sons, who along with Max were the loves of her life, D. Lee Muhleman of Huntersville, NC and Jeffrey E. Muhleman of Charlotte, NC. She also leaves her cat Molly and special friends and relatives including Donna, Pam, Amy, Sue, Carrie and Joe and the birthday group.

Jean was a graduate of Myers Park High School and Lees-McRae College. She was working for Dr. Booker Dillard at the time of her marriage to Max. When Max formed a sports marketing company; Muhleman Marketing, Inc., she assisted in the business.

She and Max were members of Myers Park Presbyterian Church for more than thirty-seven years. She was a children's Sunday school class co-teacher for several years and for many years she had been a member of the church team supplying casserole dinners to the Men's Homeless Shelter.

She and Max moved from Charlotte to Los Angeles in late 1964 for Max's career step into public relations and promotion with Ford Motor Company and Cobra car builder Carroll Shelby. In the fourteen years they lived in southern California the family raise son, Lee and added son, Jeff to the family. There Jean enjoyed playing tennis with the neighborhood girls.

Jean loved the beautiful mountains around Banner Elk, NC and the summer days at Elk River near the Lees-McRae campus where she went to college. She also loved college football, especially when son, Jeff's Georgia Bulldogs were playing and the Carolina Panthers.

A service to celebrate her life will be held Friday, December 30, at 2:30 PM at Myers Park Presbyterian Church. The family will greet friends in Oxford Hall following the service. A private interment service will follow.
