Jimmy Core 1991 - 2016 FORT LAUDERDALE, FL - A young, good looking, successful man in his early twenties stops for a homeless man and tells him to get in the car. He tells the man "I know you are hungry and I want to get you something to eat". He pulls through a fast food drive through and orders the homeless man a breakfast sandwich. The man sheepishly asks the well dressed, young man if he could also have a small coffee. The young man replies, "of course and make it a large." You just experienced a moment in the life of Jimmy Core. Jimmy "Jimbo Slice" Core left this earth on July 17th, 2016. He died in a tragic swimming accident at the age of twenty-four in his home city Fort Lauderdale, FL. It was 5 days before his twenty-fifth birthday. Jimmy began his life in Charlotte, NC on July 22nd, 1991. He became the final piece of the "Core Four" along with his mother Laura Core, sister Chelsey Core and father Jim Core. He spent his childhood embracing sports, music, fun and family. Jimmy's accomplishments in life are many and well documented. He was a graduate from Ardrey Kell High School in Charlotte, NC. It was there he served as Student Body President, graduated with academic honors and was recognized and awarded for athletics. Jimmy attended Florida State University on an academic scholarship and graduated from the School of Business with Honors. At Florida State, Jimmy was a brother in Phi Delta Theta, a competing member of the Sales Team and a member of the Lacrosse Team. After college, Jimmy started a career with Misco, a chemical company based in Pennsylvania. He was quickly promoted to Strategic Account Manager and traveled the United States representing the company in sales and through seminars. He was considered a rising star in the Janitorial Supply industry. The "Core Four" invites you to celebrate Jimmy's life on Saturday, July 30th, at the Triple C Brewing Company, 2900 Griffith Street in Charlotte, NC from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. This will be a casual, uplifting event to mirror the way Jimmy lived his life. A Memorial Fund has been set up through gofundme.com/jimmycore and will perpetually support those people needing a hand that Jimmy felt compelled to support every day. Like the music he loved, life only gives us a few bright stars. These single shining lights radiate in all directions for thousands of miles and guide us on life's journey.
