Johnny McCoy Obituary

Johnny W. McCoy "Pots" "Gampa" CHARLOTTE - Mr. McCoy, 79, of Charlotte, NC died Monday, December 16, 2013, at Novant Health. Johnny was born in Pineville, NC on June 6, 1934, a son of the late Guy and Rebecca Gibson McCoy. Johnny was the Vice President of Queen City Foundry for thirty years. He was the owner of McCoy Sales that specialized in metal fabrication services. Mr. McCoy was also a Mason for over fifty years at the James K. Polk Lodge #759 AF & AM and was a member of the Shriners. He was a former member of Calvary Church. Johnny was an active member of Southside Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and former Chairman of the Board of Deacons. He was also on the Building Committee at Southside Baptist Church. Mr. McCoy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Johnny never met a stranger and enjoyed being around people. He will be missed by his family and many friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. McCoy was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy. Survivors include his wife, Loretta Beaver McCoy; sons, Eric McCoy and wife, Judy and Doug McCoy and wife, Kathy; sisters, Bobbie Cannon and husband, Paul, Virginia Knight and Guynelle Mullis; grandchildren, Alexander, Ashley, Brenden, Bowman and Michael McCoy and Janean Moore and husband, Jason and Jennifer Arthur; great-grandchildren, Richard and David Goley and Angelica Arthur and great-great-grandson, Elijah Goley. A service to celebrate his life will be held 1:00 PM Friday, December 20, 2013, at Southside Baptist Church with the Reverend John Saunders officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Amity Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church, 301 Elmhurst Rd., Charlotte, NC 28209. Arrangements are in the care of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC.
