'Jonny' 'The Man'
SALISBURY -- Jonathan, 14, went to be with his Heavenly Father, Sunday, October 26, 2008, following injuries sustained in an auto accident.
Born July 6, 1994 in Mecklenburg County, he was a freshman at North Hills Christian School in Salisbury, where he played varsity basketball. Jonny was also a member of Kannapolis Church of God.
He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Elizabeth Byars.
Survivors include his father and step-mother, Steve and Theresa Richardson of Salisbury; mother and step-father, Melissa and Barry Cummings of Salisbury; brothers, Josh and Jeff Richardson, step-sister, Heather Cummings-Wilson, and step-brothers, Brad and Michael Cummings, all of Salisbury; grandparents, Rich and Kathleen Richardson of Salisbury, Edna Waters Marshall of Charlotte, Tom and Darlene Marshall of Mount Ulla; great-grandmother, Margaret Waters of Goldsboro; great-grandparents, Lewis 'Bud' and Grace Richardson of Wendell; aunts and uncles, Amanda Dykeman (Joseph) of St. Augustine, FL, Suzanne Morrison (Vic) of Concord, David Richardson (Dana) of Charlotte, Maribeth Butler (Robert) of Indian Trail, Scott Richardson (Cynthia) of Monroe, Faith Randall (David) of Indian Trail, and Joy Hawkins (Bo) of Salisbury.
As an organ donor, Jonny is giving life to a young man in New York City, NY (heart), a young man in Memphis, TN (liver), and an organ recipient in Wake Forest (kidney and pancreas).
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at Kannapolis Church of God, 2211 West "A" Street, Kannapolis, NC. The funeral service will follow at 8:00 p.m. The Rev. Sam Crisp will officiate.
Graveside service and burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2008 at Rowan Memorial Park in Salisbury.
Memorials may be made to North Hills Christian School, 2970 West Innes Street, Salisbury, NC 28144; 704-636-3005.

Hey my man!!! I still miss you till this day. I still think about you all the time. I know that we were only just cousins but I considered you more than that. I cared and still care about you as your big cousin. Even though you have been living in heaven for the past 11 years, I still hope that you can hear my thoughts and conversations I have with myself with you. It was so traumatic for me when you passed me and I'm still struggling with it all these years. I know your family hasn't forgotten you either. I keep your photo on my bookshelf next to my grandma and I know you guys are going to be waiting for me one day at the gates of glory. Sometimes I struggle with everything that happened to you because I can imagine what a wonderful man you would have been now. I love you still and always.

Even though it's been quite some time since you departed from this world, there still isn't a week that goes by in which I don't think about you. I can only imagine how close as family we would've been. I'm so proud of the person you are and I am always reminded of you by the smallest things. happy birthday jonny, im so sorry i couldnt come visit where you now rest, because im off the coast of africa. If words could only describe how much i miss you... I still think about you every day and would do anything to just hang out with you for a while again. One day when I see you, I want to let you know how much you were missed and how happy i am to finally be with my brother again. Hopefully you will be able to understand the pain ive been gowing through, and i pray that one day i can finally find peace. Please watch over me and help guide me in the days to come, because God knows that I will need it.

You don't know me, but my son Greer's obituary was in the paper the same day that Jonny's was in The Charlotte Observer. My son was slightly older than yours, but both boys died in accidents. When I saw his picture I immediately thought of his family and knew they were feeling the same things I was. I have continued to think about you and just wanted to let you know that in addition to the marvelous friends who I'm sure are supporting you, there are also strangers lifting you up in prayer. As a student at West Rowan High School, many people were devestated by Jonathan's death. Praying for all famliy and friends and ecspecially those with him the accident. God wanted another angel in Heaven with him. Jonathan is still with us in those who received his organs.

My prayers are with you. My daughter (Taylor Rivers)went to North Hills for several years, and Johnny always was picking. He was a great kid that made folks laugh. I pray that God would comfort your family and bless you for giving life to 3 people. The service last night was wonderful. Johnny's service opened lots of eyes and he was able to witness to a lot of people.

I am very big on organ donations as I have a bad heart but the heart is not strong enough to have a heart transplant at this time. My thought's and prayers go out to the Richardson family. I also lost a son at age 18 and he was a organ donor. I got the pleasure of talking to the one who recieved sight again and it was a wonderful feeling to know that he our son made a difference so that she could see. I would like you to come to the suport meeting called the CIRCLE of HOPE for parents that have lost a child. It is a great program I could not have made it with out them to support me. Remember in your heart we will walk the streets of gold again with our children. God said he would never leave us he would hold our hand and be there every step of the way.
