April 26, 1942 - October 13, 2025.
Joseph Thomas Wilson Jr. passed away on October 13, 2025. Son of Margaret and Joseph Thomas Wilson, Sr. Their first born, he was born in Charlotte North Carolina. He attended and graduated from York Road high school and graduated in the first graduating class of 1959. He immediately enlisted in the United States Army.
Joseph affectionally call "Joe" was proceeded in death by his parents, Margaret and Joseph Thomas Wilson, Sr.; infant daughter, Nicole Thomas; sister, Maddie D. Coleman; brother, Edward Mason.
He survived by his sister, Barbara W. Hendrix; special nephew, Kareem A. Hendrix, one of his precious previous caretakers; Xavier M. Hendrix, his great-nephew; other nieces and nephews, cousins to cherish his memories.
Joseph's many outstanding achievements consisted of Vietnam Veteran, first Black to receive the Eagle Scout badge in America, through the Boy Scouts of America. First black Mecklenburg County police officer, Master's Degree in divinity from Arlin Smith Bible college.
Funeral Service will be held Friday, October 24, 2025. Visitation 11:00 AM to 12 PM Funeral Service 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM Grier Funeral Service Inc. 115 John McCarroll Ave., Charlotte, NC 28216 burial will follow at VA national cemetery in Salisbury North Carolina
