Kathleen Megargee Obituary

MONROE -- Mrs. Kathleen Ellen Megargee, 43, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 5, 2002 at her residence, surrounded by family and friends, after a courageous six-month battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of twenty years, Barney, and their beautiful daughter Meghan, 15, and wonderful son Ryan, 10.
Kathy was born July 23, 1958 in Natick, MA, to Leonard and Elizabeth Mooney. She was married on May 22, 1982 and renewed her vows on May 22, 2002 surrounded by friends and family. She was a 1977 graduate of Holliston High School and worked several years for the Town of Framingham, MA, before relocating to the Nashua, NH area, where she worked for the Superintendent of Schools office in Hudson, NH. She was an active member of Faith United Methodist Church, Indian Trail, where she participated in the Explorer Sunday School Class and assisted with children's Sunday School classes. Kathy was a devoted and loving wife and mother who spent countless hours as a Girl Scout Leader, a volunteer at Shiloh Elementary School, and who was an avid fan at Ryan's baseball and basketball games.
In addition to her parents, husband and children, her survivors include her sister, Deborah Norton and husband Jack of Medway, MA; brothers, James Mooney and wife Tara of Franklin, MA, and Bryan Mooney of Northbridge, MA; uncle, Norman Mooney of Bourne, MA; nine nieces and nephews; and a countless number of friends.
The family will receive friends of this loving woman on Monday, July 8th from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at McEwen Funeral Home Mint Hill Chapel. A service to celebrate her life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 9th at Faith United Methodist Church, 3708 Faith Church Road, Indian Trail, NC, with Pastor Lynn Upchurch and Reverend Berta Spencer officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn East Cemetery, Matthews.
Memorials may be made in Kathy's name to Faith UMC, Building Fund, 3708 Faith Church Road, Indian Trail, NC 28079, or Union County Hospice, 700 West Roosevelt Boulevard, Monroe, NC 28110.
Barney, Meghan, and Ryan would like to extend their appreciation and love to all those co-workers, friends, family, and members of Faith United Methodist Church who have been there over the past few months. Your prayers, meals, and continuing support shown during this difficult time has been a blessing to us all. A special thanks to Kathy's caregivers, including Dr. Thomas Hauch, Presbyterian Hospital Nurses Station 3A, Harris Hospice nurses, and Union County Hospice Nurses, counselors, and aides for their unending care and concern. God Bless you all from the bottom of our hearts.
Arrangements are in care of McEwen Funeral Home, Mint Hill Chapel.

Dear Barney, Meghan, and Ryan,

I was so saddened to hear of Kathy's passing. I have only the fondest memories of Kathy. She was the cousin I always had fun with, who always had a smile, and was fun to be with and be somewhat mischevious with. I can't believe how much time has passed since we last saw each other...20 years. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you as you go through this difficult time.

Meaghan, Hi..I was just scanning thru the paper and read your moms obituary. I lost my father to cancer in January and I am really sorry for you. I am 29 years old with 3 children and can not imagine life without my mother. It is extrememly difficult without my father. As my husband so often has to tell me, he is not suffering anymore. He is at peace with God and one day I will join him. I just want you to know that even tho you dont know me, I am deeply saddened and sorrowful for your loss. If you want to talk or ever need someone to listen when you dont feel as if you can face another day, you are more than welcome to email or call me....I dont often give my number to strangers, but I truly feel compelled in this case...704-549-4510. Sometimes God takes those we love the most so they can watch us, guide us and protect us always.

You are in my thoughts and prayers
