Lillian Deal Sholar
Mrs. Sholar, 100, of Charlotte, went peacefully to her Lord August 14, 2009, at Conway Manor in SC. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years of marriage, Merriman Isham Sholar, and daughter Anne Ward.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Merriman Staton Sholar, of Huntington Beach, CA, and grandchildren Laura Roberts, Bob and his wife Jane, Dan, and Mark (dec.) Sholar. Also surviving are daughter Anne's husband, Larry Ward, of Surfside Beach, SC, and son Ricky Ward. Additional children are Robert Jones, his wife Mary Anne; Patricia Jones and Rebecca Brett, her husband Dr. John Brett; and Mack Jones and his wife Peggy. There are six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Kathleen, born January 26, 1909, in Concord, TN, to Gustave Pickney Deal Sr. and Emma Pepper, and, with Merriman, raised their children in a Christian home in Charlotte, attending the Bible Presbyterian Church. She was employed at the Western Union and NCNB as a telegraph operator and later became dedicated to caring for grandchildren and teaching piano lessons.
A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, August 18th, at Forest Lawn West Cemetery in Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to your favorite Christian ministry.

Kathleen was very intelligent, compassionate, and committed Christian. She was a source of encouraagement to me during my interim ministry at her church in charlotte. I later returned to active duty as a chaplain with the U.S. Army. Thank you Kathleen!!! Rest in peace,. Chaplain(COL) Ron Case, U.S. Army, Ret.
