Katie Williams Obituary

Katie Johnson Williams
June 27, 1933 - May 1, 2021
Charlotte, North Carolina - Katie Louise Johnson Williams, 87, of Charlotte, NC transitioned to her reward in the early hours of May 1, 2021 after a sudden and brief illness.
Katie was born June 27, 1933 to Roosevelt and Ella Johnson in Charlotte, NC. Throughout her life God was Katie's guide and she was deeply rooted in her faith. An excellent student she graduated from West Charlotte HS in the class of '51. Katie had a very brief career as a beautician before marrying and settling into the life of a homemaker. Katie wed her soulmate and one true love, Arthur Williams, on January 26, 1952.
Katie was a kind and gentle woman who had an encouraging word and supportive comment for everyone she met and a uniqueness about her that softened anything negative. Though kind and gentle, Katie was no nonsense and matter of fact. She was a phenomenal cook and seamstress and took joy in sharing these talents with others.
Those left to celebrate her memory include her husband of 69 years, Arthur Williams, Sr.; loving relatives and friends.
A walk-through viewing will take place Sat., May 7, at Greater Bethel AME Church, 5232 The Plaza, Charlotte, NC 28215 beginning at 10:00 am. A private family service will be held starting at 11:00 am and will be live streamed from the Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Beatties Ford Memorial Gardens immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Williams Memorial Scholarship in care of BB&T Bank.
Many thanks to everyone who did anything to help make our Mother's journey a special one. She was a beautiful woman who touched so many lives. She is, and will always be, loved and missed.

Art and family you are blessed to have known such love. Those of us who knew Katie and the family , knew it too.
My mommy and her birthday twin still have much work to do. Love rooted in God never ends and never fails. I will cry with you but I know those two along with other loved ones gone before, have found a rejuvenating joy and perpetual strength and power, in love.
