Kortney Blythe Gordon
MANASSAS, VA -- Kortney Blythe Gordon, 28, of Manassas, VA along with her pre-born daughter, Sophy Joy were taken from this earth and placed into the arms of their loving Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 8, 2011. Kortney was born on March 13, 1983 in Santa Rosa, CA.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, October 14, 2011 at 1PM at Christ Covenant Church. The family will begin to receive friends at 11:30AM. Her earthly body will be laid to rest at Matthews Historic Cemetery.
Kortney's life passion is expressed in her own words, 'Jesus Christ is my Lord, abolishing abortion is my calling.' She traveled across the country as the Field Director for Students For Life of America to mobilize, activate, and train new and existing student pro-life groups. Kortney worked tirelessly to protect the lives of pre-born children and end abortion. She and her preborn baby Sophy Joy went to be with the Lord while doing that work.
Kortney and Sophy were coming back from a SFLA Conference in Georgia when they were struck and killed instantly in a head-on collision Saturday night. Kortney's life verse is 'to live is Christ, to die is gain' (Philippians 1:21) which she lived to the fullest.
She is waiting in heaven to be reunited with her beloved husband, Benjamin Gordon; parents, Kristin Blythe and Larry Blythe and his wife Jane; mother and father-in-law, Natalie and John Gordon; sister, Ashley Owen and her son, Elijah; brother, Jeff Blythe and brother-in-law, Nathaniel Gordon; maternal grandmother, Shirley 'Shashee' Hamilton; paternal grandmother, Sharla Blythe; uncle, Don Blythe and his wife Brenda; aunt, Renee O'Brien and her husband Chet; loving cousins: Dawnelle, Jesse, Mike, Nick, Jaron and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Students for Life of America www.studentsforlife.org.
Arrangements are in care of Heritage Funeral Home, Indian Trail Chapel. An online guest registry is available at www.heritagefuneral.net.

Dear Cousin Larry, I remember your beautiful, intelligent daughter as a toddler who identified letters and words on the television. I think she must have been born a magna cum laude. My heart and that of Lynne, Susan and Renee are with you and family. God Bless. Sharon Ball

I do not know Kortney at all, but know a cousin through marriage. I have read her story and have weeped for her family at their great loss here on earth. I am so thankful that she knew Jesus and is rejoicing at His feet. I am also thrilled to know she can love on all the children that are there without their parents. My little Jordan is up with her and Jesus and I know there is great celebration. - Lynette (Thornton, CO)

I do not know Kortney or her family, but her story has touched my heart immensely and I want to convey my sincerest, most heartfelt condolences to those who remain who knew and loved her dearly. She was beautiful, both inside and out. Such a tragic story, but the promise of hope after earthly life is her reward, to rest within the loving arms and be loved by the precious Lord Jesus as she joined Him with her daughter. God bless all of you who know great sorrow today in their loss. I will be thinking of and praying for you, and for the Lord's comfort in your time of grief.

Kortney was a close friend of my brother Daniel Owen and we enjoyed her company and presence in our home many times. I know she was so excited to become a mother, and our thoughts and prayers are with Ben and the Blythe and Gordon families as you praise God for their lives here and in heaven but also mourn all that will not be on this side of heaven.
