Madge Reynolds Obituary

MORGANTON -- Madge O. Reynolds, 79, of Propst Rd., Morganton, NC died Saturday, March 16, 2002 at Hospice of Burke County Shytle House in Valdese, NC, following a brief illness. Born April 15, 1922 in Rutherford County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Silas M. Owens and Ola Dee Scoggins Owens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years and 10 months, John Francis Reynolds; a brother, Garland Benjamin Owens; and a sister, Jean Lindsay. Mrs. Reynolds was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and was a retired nurse at Broughton Hospital. She served as a nurse in the US Navy during World War II. She is survived by a daughter, Diane Getz and her husband, Richard of Matthews, NC; brothers, Ralph M Owens of Morganton, and J. Glenn Owens of Corvallis, OR; and sisters, Anne Fisher of Shelby,NC, and Ruth Roberts of Morganton.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2002 at Salem United Methodist Church with Rev. Donald Freshour officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial park. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Burke County, PO Box 1029, Valdese, NC 28690 or to Burke County Friends for Animals, PO Box 1884, Morganton, NC 28680-1884. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

She was a special friend of mine. Worked several years with Mrs. Reynolds at Broughton Hospital. Before getting sick Mrs. Reynolds would call me at least once a month to see how I was doing.
