April 23, 1934 - November 16, 2025
Charlotte, North Carolina - In Loving Memory of Mrs. Margaret Roberts Siviter Emery - Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Margaret Roberts Siviter Emery died peacefully on November 16, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on April 23, 1934, in Pittsburgh, PA, to Chalmers Thomas Siviter and Maude Langston Wofford Siviter, Margaret's life was a testament to the joy of loving the Lord, the gift of making beautiful music, the blessing of devoted family and friends and the fun of lifelong learning. Margaret adored education and was well-known for her enthusiasm for academic success. She grew up in Pittsburgh's Highland Park neighborhood, where close-knit families and community pride shaped her early years. At Peabody High School, Margaret met the love of her life, Milton "Milt" Gustave Emery, Jr. She faithfully attended every baseball game he played, whether at Forbes Field or any ballpark, cheering him on. After a year attending Oberlin College and Conservatory, Margaret made the decision to return home to attend Chatham College so she could be near Milt and her family. After graduating with a major in Philosophy and Religion, Margaret and Milt married on April 30, 1956, in her family's cherished church, East Liberty Presbyterian. The newlyweds moved to Houston, Texas where Milt was a Lieutenant in the United States Air Force and Margaret taught school. The couple then moved to Tampa, Florida where Milt continued his duty in the U.S. Air Force. Margaret taught middle school social studies in Tampa's public school system. After the birth of their daughter, Ann Elizabeth, Margaret and Milt moved back to their hometown of Pittsburgh. In less than a year, Milt and Margaret were transferred with ALCOA to Charlotte, NC, where their sons, David and Doug, were born. They raised their family and lived happily in Charlotte for 45 years. Margaret was an exceptional pianist. She loved playing all kinds of music especially music from Broadway plays and movies. After hearing a melody, she easily played it on the piano. Though she could read sheet music, she never needed it. Every tune carried beautiful emotion, and it was a joy to watch her play. Her music brought comfort, joy and connection to her family and friends who loved gathering around her piano to sing and dance. Margaret was a member of Myers Park Presbyterian Church where she cherished singing in the choir and playing the piano. Margaret was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 58 years, Milton Gustave Emery, Jr. and her son, David Thomas Emery. Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Rachel Wofford Siviter; her daughter, Ann Wooten (Ronald), son Doug Emery (Jill Leighton) and daughter-in-law Angela Emery. She is survived by eight grandchildren- Rachel Wooten Matthews, Ryan Wooten (Morgan), John Emery, Andrew Emery (Julia), Sarah Edmundson (Samuel), Mariel Emery, Meredith Emery, and Chal Emery, as well as twelve great- grandchildren Ryan, Luke, Emery and Eloise Matthews; Heidi, Sloane, Blake and Reese Wooten; Kate and Hattie Emery; Sadie and Sydney Edmundson. Margaret's life was a symphony - woven with devotion to her family, the magic of her music, and the joy of learning. She will be remembered not only for her extraordinary talents but also for the warmth of her spirit and the depth of her love. There will be a private burial at Homewood Cemetery in Pittsburgh, Pa. on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. Arrangements by John A. Freyvogel Sons, Inc. (
