Marilyn Baxley Webb

1931 - 2018

Marilyn Baxley Webb passed away peacefully on Saturday April 21, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 25, 1931 in Rockingham, NC, the daughter of Ida Wallace and John Edward Baxley, sister to William Glenn Baxley and Edward Fairly Baxley, all predeceased.

Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Susan, son-in-law, Patrick Pierce, and three grandchildren, grandsons, Baxley and Emerson, and granddaughter, Kendel. Her greatest joy was being involved in the lives of her beloved grandchildren.

She is also survived by niece, Ann Baxley Jordan of Rock Hill, SC and nephew, Edward Fairly (Lee) Baxley of Los Angeles, CA, with whom she enjoyed a special relationship.

Marilyn graduated from Rockingham High School where she was very active playing varsity basketball and cheerleading. She then went on to attend Greensboro College. A few years after college she moved to Charlotte and started her family. Marilyn enjoyed gardening and decorating, had her own antique shop in the Charlotte area and enjoyed a successful real estate and mortgage career.

Marilyn and Susan were close, even by mother/daughter standards, talking to each other every day and working together at Susan's mortgage banking firm, Crown Mortgage, as Office Manager for 13 years before retirement.

Marilyn was intimately involved in her grandchildren's lives and was the only babysitter they ever had. As they grew, she enjoyed supporting them in all their sports and school activities as their biggest fan.

Per Marilyn's wishes, there will be a private graveside service for her family. She also asked that, in lieu of flowers, please make donations to her church, Myers Park Methodist Church, 1501 Queens Road or to St Jude Research Hospital for Children, P.O. Box 50, Memphis TN, 38101.
