Mary Lou Byrd Nix
Mrs. Nix, 81, of Charlotte passed away on October 17, 2007 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 25, 1925 in Brevard, NC and was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Pearl Byrd. She was the wife of the late Charles Roger Nix, Sr. They were married for 48 years until his death in 1996.
She was an active member for 27 years at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and enjoyed the News Letter Folders Group on Tuesday Mornings. Mary Lou retired from the Charlotte Mecklenburg Public Library System where she was a substitute Librarian for 18 years. She was also an active member of the Sisky YMCA water aerobics for the last 11 years.
She is survived by her three children, Sharon Sims and husband, Barry of Charlotte, Roger Nix Jr. and wife Brenda of Peachland, NC and Brenda Morris and husband, John of Midlothian, VA. Four Grandchildren, Shawn Rice, Roger Nix III, Hayden Davis and Daniel Sims and four Great Grandchildren, Jordan, Jazmin, Blake and Allie. She is also survived by her sister, Jackie Haynes of Texas; brothers, Joe Byrd of Louisiana, and Blake Byrd of Virginia.
Harry and Bryant Company and Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church will be serving the family. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 20, 2007 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church at 3307 Rea Road. A service to celebrate the life of Mary Lou will follow at 11:00 a.m. and then graveside services at Sunset Memory Gardens on Lawyers Road.
