Michael Lewis O'Keefe

1967 - 2016

Michael O'Keefe, 49, of Charlotte, North Carolina, died May 9, 2016, as a result of injuries from being struck by a car on April 30. He had an excellent memory of sports, especially football and baseball. His sports knowledge ran deep as he could quote sports facts going back to the 1950's. As of late, he enjoyed time spent at Plaza Baptist Church working in their food outreach programs. Most of all, he loved time spent with family and friends. He is survived by his parents, Raymond and Joyce O'Keefe of Charlotte; a sister Eileen and Wade Jarvis of Marshville; a brother Ray (wife Sonya Davis) O'Keefe of York, SC; and a brother David O'Keefe of Charlotte. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Michael was preceded in death by his brother, Robert.

Private family services led by Pastor David Gales of Plaza Baptist Church were held with burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Charlotte. I'm Free

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free I'm following the path God has chosen for me. I took His hand when I heard him call; I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way; I've now found peace at the end of day. If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joys. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss; Oh yes, these things, I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow Look for the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I savored much; Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch. Perhaps my time seems all to brief; Don't lengthen your pain with undue grief. Lift up your heart and peace to thee, God wanted me now - He set me free.
