Mitchell Lyle Byrd
'Mitch'
CONCORD -- Mr. Byrd, 47, died Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at the Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC. Mitch LIVED for 8 months after being diagnosed with brain cancer.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Forest Hill United Methodist Church in Concord where he and his wife, Lynne were active members. The Reverends David & Freida Hobson will officiate.
Born November 11, 1960 in Florence, SC, he was the son of Helen S. Byrd of Concord and the late James M. Byrd. He was a graduate of Northwest Cabarrus High School and East Carolina University. He was employed with Technology Partners, Inc. in Charlotte as Vice President of Business Development where he worked for almost a decade. He was an Eagle Scout and a past President of the Risk and Insurance Management Society.
Mitch is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Lynne Rahe Byrd; his mother, Helen S. Byrd; his brother, Michael L. Byrd of Concord; and his two beloved dogs, Hattie and Wilson. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Bonnie K. Rahe; sisters and brothers-in-law; nieces; nephews; aunts; and an abundance of friends.
His life is summed up when his friend, mentor and colleague Sam Khashman said: ...'the world will be missing one of its stars.'
The family is forever grateful and would like to thank the staff of Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC for the loving care given to Mitch.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorials be sent to Forest Hill United Methodist Church, 'Mitch Byrd Memorial Endowment' for the Forest Hill Christian Academy, 265 Union Street North, Concord, NC 28025.

Mitch and I were friends at ECU. We lived in Aycock dorm. He was a good friend and liked by all. I am saddened to hear of his death. He was always a positive influence to all around him. We enjoyed many great times at ECU.

Lynne,when we were down in NC visitig my family,in sept,my brother David told me of Mitch's health and my heart just broke open.My memories of you and Mitch,and all the laughter, fun times we shared at the SPORTSCENTER, for close to 2 decades,will live all of us forever. when Mike Campbell called and told me of his passing this week,i just have not been myself,and it has brought back alot of memories of losing someone so close.My HEART,MY HUGS MY LOVE,GOES OUT TO YOU,MICHAEL,AND TO HIS MOTHER HELEN,,she raised a damned good guy GOD BLESS,remember one thing,,the hurt and pain eventually go away,but the memories are our strength
