Patricia W. Hobbs
LAKE WYLIE -- Patricia Ann Whedbee Hobbs 79 of 4877 Charlotte Highway, Lake Wylie, SC, passed away at Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville, NC on Tuesday, November 23, 2010. Pat was much loved for her humor, her compassion for others, and her generosity. She always made it a point to gladden the lives of all she met, and few who knew her were not strangers for long. Over the years, Pat showed much courage and strength in facing challenges that few of us will ever know, and she will be remembered in our hearts as a loving mother, wife, sister, grandmother and friend.
Mrs. Hobbs was born May 3, 1931 in Greensboro, NC to the late William and Jake K. Whedbee. She was the widow of Jack Edward Hobbs, Sr. Pat and Jack moved to Charlotte, NC from Dalton, GA in 1960. They moved to Lake Wylie, SC in 1975. Shortly after Jack's passing in 1999, Pat moved into Lake Wylie Assistant Living Center.
Survivors are her sons Jack Hobbs, Jr. & wife Valerie of Santa Barbara, CA, Blake Hobbs of Clover, SC, and Bruce Hobbs and wife Lynn of Princeton of Princeton, WV; sister Carolyn Somers of Beaufort, SC; brothers Charles Whedbee of Greensboro, NC and Bill Whedbee of Melbourne, FL; grandchildren Morgan, Rhian and Wesley Hobbs of Princeton, WV, Brooke Wilson of Durham, NC and Juliet Salgado of Santa Barbara, CA; and great-grandchildren Diego and Rafel Salgado of Santa Barbara, CA.
Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 11, 2010 at River Hills Community Church with the Rev. Bruce Jones officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the Church.
Memorials may be made to the River Hills Emergency Squad, 4 Heritage Drive, Lake Wylie, SC 29710.
M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home, Lake Wylie, SC is serving the family of Mrs. Hobbs.
