Randall Howe Obituary

Randall Lee Howe "Randy" CHARLOTTE - Randall "Randy" Lee Howe, 65, passed away doing what he loved, riding his motorcycle in Huntsville, AR, on Thursday, September 21, 2017. Randy was born on May 31, 1952, in Decatur, Illinois to Everett and Eileen Smith Howe. He was a 1970 graduate of Warrensburg-Latham High School. He later graduated from Mary Crest College, Davenport, Iowa with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He began his professional career working for Caterpillar Tractor Company in 1972, then Sears Manufacturing Company/Duraform Seating in1983, Braunco, Inc. in 1991, Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems from 1995-2013, and was working for Haldex at the time of his death. He won numerous awards over the years for his dedication and success in establishing relationships both in business and in his personal life. Frequently his business acquaintances became very close friends. He was known as loyal, hard-working, candid and always made people laugh. Growing up, Randy was known as being mischievous and a risk taker, as his sisters can attest. He farmed in the Latham community, was a volunteer firefighter for the Latham Fire Department and a member of Latham United Methodist Church where he had fond memories of mowing the grass and keeping the grounds secure. He loved playing the drums, football; a Carolina Panthers fan, collecting antique cars, landscaping, traveling the world with his partner Melody, and family reunions where you could find him holding court and sharing stories of days gone by. He loved his high-paced lifestyle of racing, sports, and motorcycles. Randy spent sixteen year as a spotter for NASCAR with NEMCO Motorsports. Randy lived life with gusto, enthusiasm and never knew a stranger. He leaves behind the love of his life and partner, Melody Bullock of Charlotte, NC; former wife, Wendy Mason Howe of Charlotte, NC; daughter and apple of his eye, Courtney Howe of Charlotte, NC; future stepsons, Jonathan (Christos) Corkhill, Joseph (Rachel) Corkhill, and Jason Corkhill of Greensboro, NC; his stepmother, Rosalie Howe of Latham, IL; future mother-in-law Pearlie Bullock; sisters, Linda (Larry) Roberts of Corona Del Mar, CA and Donna Altherr of Decatur, IL; stepsisters, Kathy Holdman of Bonne Terre, MO and Connie (Mike) Smith of Shannon, IL; niece Megan Denison of Chicago, IL and nephew Brennan Roberts of Santa Monica, CA, five step-nephews, four grandchildren, many cousins, aunts, and uncles. He will be reunited with his parents, grandparents, brother- in-law, Mike Altherr and stepbrother Roger Roethe, stepbrother-in-law Ron Holdman. Funeral will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2017, at Latham United Methodist Church followed by an informal reception at the Korn Krib in Latham, IL. An additional Celebration of Life service will be held at Deer Pond Plantation in Charlotte, NC on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Randy's name, in lieu of flowers, to Latham Fire Department, Latham United Methodist Church, "What Would Todd Do", or the Primary Immunodeficiency Foundation. Randy, what great memories I have of our time working together at Sears Seating. You were a pleasure to be around, always full of energy, enthusiasm and a "wee bit" of the devil as we "brain stormed" our account strategy. You remain a dear friend and are deeply missed. May God bless your family and loved one's, and may He hold you in the palm of His hand. Blessings!

Randall, whom I met about a year ago through business, became one of those rare instant friends that so seldom cross our paths; Godspeed to a splendidly fine gentleman.

Randy, I still can't believe you're gone - but you will never be forgotten. We went through good times and challenges together, and I've never had more loyal a friend than you. We'll always remember your wit, humor, margaritas, and love of all cool things with big motors! Your love for Melody was apparent to all and while we all will miss you immensely, none will more than her. Farewell, my friend.

Randy, You will be dearly missed not only by me but my entire family. Our friendship of nearly 40 years was too short. May God bless you and your family.
