Reid Black Obituary
Q.B. worked in the family business, Black's Dairy, which was founded in 1927 and sold in the early 1960s. After the sale of the Dairy, he then managed the Gulf Service Station on Little Rock Road for many years. After having to take disability retirement in 1982, that didn't slow him down! He stayed busy with his garden and recycling efforts. The entire family, neighbors and friends enjoyed all the vegetables from his gardens for many years.
He attended local churches, Mulberry Presbyterian and Mulberry Baptist, for many years.
He is survived by Peggy, his wife of 71 years; son, Reid Q. Black Jr. (Bonnie); daughters, Debra Summerville (Walt), Robin Wise (Ricky), Kim Watt (Tony), and Tracy Adams (Patrick); a whole bundle of grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Doris Walters of Raleigh, NC; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
His family wishes to express sincere appreciation for all the special doctors, nurses, and Hospice who provided exceptional health care services during his last few years.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 Thursday evening, December 27, 2018, at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill, NC. A celebration of life will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 28th at Mulberry Presbyterian Church, 5600 Tuckaseegee Road, Charlotte, NC 28208. A private burial will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Mulberry Presbyterian Church or Hospice and Palliative Care-Charlotte Region, P.O. Box 470408, Charlotte NC 28247.

I first knew Query in the hayfield after he got out of service from Korea. He was strong and could throw a bale to top of hay pile on truck. We spent many Sunday afternoons playing softball on the LL field across from West Meck HS I also remember him at Gulf station. He always had a smile and very friendly. Great man who lived a great life. His friendship was one of my fond memories of growing up in Mulberry
