Richard Gordon Obituary
October 19, 1945 - December 3, 2022
McLean, Virginia - Richard Gordon of Matthews, NC, died peacefully on December 3, 2022. Richard was a graduate of East Mecklenburg High School, Wake Forest University, and Wake Forest Law School. During his long legal career, he was a JAG attorney in the U.S. Marine Corps, an Assistant District Attorney in Mecklenburg County, an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina, and a partner with the law firm of Dozier, Miller, Pollard & Murphy. Richard is remembered for his faith, his love for his family, his loyalty to his friends, and his dry wit. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Marjorie Gordon, and his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 54 years, Lena Swofford Gordon. He is survived by his loving daughter, Kathleen Gordon, grandchildren Kaylee and Lily Hudson, and many nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 22nd, at 1:00 p.m. at St. John's Baptist Church in Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Legal Aid of North Carolina (legalaidnc.org) and Capital Caring Hospice (capitalcaring.org).

As a Charlotte Police Officer I enjoyed working with Richard many years ago when he was an Assistant District Attorney. His legal advice on criminal matters was excellent. He was a good man, and my sympathy goes out to his family. Rest in peace, Richard.
