Charlotte, North Carolina - Robert (Rob) Roy Rochelle, November 1, 1969 – July 16, 2023 of Charlotte NC passed peacefully on July 16. Rob grew up in Knoxville TN and graduated from East Tennessee State University where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Rob worked for Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region. Rob was a kind man with a heart of gold who had many interests and passions. He loved his family and friends, rescuing dogs, cars, The Andy Griffith Show, volunteering for Tennessee Remote Area Medical, TN football, technology and all outdoor activities, especially boating. Rob was very proud of earning his Captain's license and loved being referred to as Captain Rob. He enjoyed teaching In-water safety training at the Carefree Boat Club in Lakes Wylie and Norman. He was a member of Johnson City Amateur Radio and Carolina DX association. His call sign was WA4DAZ. Rob never met a stranger and was loved by many.
Rob was proceeded in death by his parents, Roy and Elizabeth Rochelle. He is survived by his life partner, Amelia Ravan; his son Daniel, daughter-in-law Lee, grandson Liam; his stepsons Alex and Grayson Ravan; brother Barry Rochelle, niece Morgan Rochelle, nephew Matt Rochelle, cousins Ellen and Rusty; and many other beloved family members. Leaving behind fond memories are Rob's rescue Aussies and loving companions, Pepper and Mazie.
A celebration of life will be held in his honor on Saturday, July 29th at 1PM at South Charlotte Banquet Center. We request friends and loved ones to join us in Rob's honor wearing casual attire he loved so much; boating, UT, Hawaiian or polo. Reception to be held after the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests those to wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region, SOHO Dog Rescue (Save Our Herders Outreach) or Tennessee Remote Area Medical in Rob's honor.
