Robert Willis Obituary
'Bob'
Mr. Willis, 71, of Charlotte passed away Tuesday at home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Chapel of St. Matthew Catholic Church with Father Carmen Malacari celebrant. Interment will follow the service at Forest Lawn East Cemetery. His family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. also at the church.
Mr. Willis was born on May 23, 1933, in Binghamton, NY, son of the late Sidney and Ethel Willis. He retired as a Technician with IBM after many years of service to the company. Robert married his beloved wife, the former Geraldine Kendrot on July 6, 1957. He loved his morning retreat to the Sisky YMCA in Matthews and the many people and friends he would meet there.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Willis, of the home; children, Robert H. Willis, Jr. and wife Kerry Willis, of Galax, VA, Denise Willis, of Delray Beach, FL., Deborah Woodard and husband, Dr. Warden L. Woodard III, of Charlotte; four grandchildren, Lindsay and Lewis Woodard, both of Charlotte and Jacob and Rachel Willis, both of Galax, VA.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials in memory of Mr. Willis be made to the Sisky YMCA, Community Outreach Fund, 3127 Weddington Road, Matthews, NC 28105.
Arrangements for the family are in the care of Heritage Funeral Home, Weddington / Matthews, NC. An online guest book is available at heritagefuneral.net.
