Ronald Byrd Obituary

Ron Byrd, 65, went to his heavenly home on Monday, May 23, 2016 after a long illness. He was the son of Jack Byrd and Margie Pierce.

He graduated from North Mecklenburg High School and spent his life in the printing business and retired from CCL Label Company.

Ron leaves behind his mother Margie Pierce, that loved him so dearly. His wife Helen Griffin-Byrd who loved him so much. Three loving sons Ron Byrd Jr., Anthony Byrd, and Andrew Byrd (Michelle). Two loving stepdaughters Monique Hamel (Barry) and Crystal Stella (Wayne). 7 grandchildren Dakota, Andrew, Skylar, Makensey, Kaylyn, Josh and Alyssa (Zack). One great granddaughter Lily. One loving brother Jack Byrd Jr. Two loving sisters Peggy Reed and Sherry Harrington (David).

Ron was a loving husband, son, brother, father and grandfather. His family meant so much to him. His favorite thing after retirement was spending his time at the beach with his wife and his "doggie daughter" Sugar. We love you and miss you!, but now there is no more pain, just heaven's open arms.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Byrd will be held 4:00pm Thursday May 26, 2016 at the Woodlawn Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly, 375 Woodlawn Avenue, Mount Holly, NC. The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

Pops was definately my most favorite grandfather he would always have a postive attitude if i was down he would try his best to cheer me up like one time i just got this new rip stick and i had know to play with and he went out thier with me and tryed to ride and ended up breaking his wrist doing it scared me and he knew it and he told me thathe would be fine to make me happy knowing that he was in pain but i would always call him and check up on him and he would always tell he is doing fine and i would always ask him when could i come down again and he would tell me that u can always come when ever i wanted to. Its extremly hard for me to even think about him with out getting worked a
Up me and pops had a better bond then most others in the family probably had the strongest bond but i know he will always be with me and be in my heart.

I love you pops

Helen, sometimes when you marry into a family you get lucky. like I did. Ron was a good man that had an infectious smile and a big heart. My regret is that he, and you, came into my life so late. I'm so sorry Ron left you, and the rest of his family way too soon. I will miss him.
