Sharon Strain Obituary

Sharon Kyles Strain, 52, of Charlotte died Saturday, March 16, 2002 at Presbyterian Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2002 at Matthews United methodist Church with Dr. Ken Lyon officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
Sharon K. Strain was born April 22, 1949 in Asheville, NC, a daughter of Buddy and Mary Kyles. She was a graduate of South Mecklenburg High School in 1967 and Kings Business College in 1969. Sharon was united in marriage to Bob Strain in 1969. She was a member of Matthews United Methodist Church. Sharon worked for Horace Davis in real estate appraisal for twenty-eight years and was currently employed by Piedmont Insurance Co. as a customer service representative. Sharon was a caring homemaker and an avid fan of literature; she also spent many an hour on her wild birds, and working around the yard with her garden and flowers. While away from home, she could be found at the beach, her home away from home. Sharon truly was a loving and wonderful wife, mother, and daughter.
Along with her parents, Buddy and Mary Kyles of Asheville, NC, she is survived by her husband, Bob Strain of Charlotte; son, Chris Strain of Greenville, NC; grandmother, Kathleen Kyles of Weaverville, NC; and father and mother-in-law, Bob and Connie Strain of Charlotte.
Memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Hospital Foundation to benefit the school of nursing or to the Matthews United Methodist Church, 801 S. Trade, Matthews, NC 28105.
