Sheldon Turner Obituary

Sheldon Wells Turner, 40, of Charlotte, NC passed away on April 8, 2025. Born in Charlotte on February 20th, 1985, Sheldon graduated from Episcopal High School in 2003 and the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill in 2013. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 2005 and, upon completion of basic training at Parris Island, was assigned to the Marine Corp Air Station in Beaufort, SC, where he proudly provided support for Marine Aircraft Group - 31. As part of his service, Sheldon spent a year in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was honorably discharged as a Corporal in 2009 and was Vice President, within the Wells Fargo Corporate & Investment Banking Operations group. Sheldon was an avid reader and enjoyed exploring the outdoors, connecting with friends, volunteering, traveling, music and spending time with his nephew.

Sheldon is survived by his parents, Karen White, Mark Turner and Donna Bell, his sister, Ellery Turner, his nephew, Jack Wilkins, his half-siblings, Travis and Maxine Turner, many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins and a best friend, his dog Stevie. Sheldon will be remembered for his beautiful blue eyes, a brilliant mind, his playful spirit, a generous and giving nature and his unmistakable laugh. Sheldon had a soft spot for the underdog and a unique ability to look past the surface and connect with people regardless of how they presented. May we all honor Sheldon by keeping open hearts, having open minds, generously giving second chances and being kind to each other.

Sheldon cared little for formalities and to honor that, the family invites any who wish to celebrate Sheldon to come as you are and join them at a memorial service and reception on Wednesday, May 14th 2pm at St. Vincent De Paul Church - 6828 Old Reid Road in Charlotte.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider a donation in Sheldon's memory to Anuvia Prevention & Recovery Center (anuvia.org).

Arrangements are in the care of Kenneth W. Poe Funeral & Cremation Service, 1321 Berkeley Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28204 (704) 641-7606. Online condolences may be shared at www.kennethpoeservices.com.

I went to high school with Sheldon and was on the wrestling team with him. I remember him as tough, determined, and someone who gave it his all on the mat. It´s been many years, but hearing about his passing brought back memories. Wishing peace to his family.
