Terry Hildreth Obituary

Terry L. Hildreth (née Blackburn) passed peacefully at home on August 15, 2025, in Mint Hill, North Carolina. Though her departure may feel too soon to those who loved her, it was, for her, a graceful and faithful conclusion-full-circle and on her own terms.

Born on April 28, 1955, in Winston-Salem, Terry was a long-time resident of Mint Hill. She graduated from Independence High School in 1973 and spent over three decades as a Licensed Customs Broker in the Charlotte area, building a career rooted in diligence and professionalism.

Terry was briefly married to Paul, the great love of her life. Together they brought into the world their son, Brandon-a living testament to their enduring connection.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Donald and Elaine Blackburn. Her memory lives on through her devoted son Brandon Hildreth (Erin); cherished granddaughter Kaylie Hildreth; bonus granddaughter Emma; and her treasured grandson Jacob Hildreth, who became the light of her later years. She is also remembered fondly by her brother Alan Blackburn and nieces Faith and Katie.

Terry's passions were as vibrant as her spirit. A voracious reader, she journeyed through countless sci-fi adventures with Stephen King often by her side. Her bookshelves stood as monuments to imagination. Music was another lifelong companion-from attending her first concert at twelve to becoming a Swiftie in her sixties. Known affectionately as "EmoGranny," she embraced every lyric that moved her soul.

Her quiet yet unwavering faith in Jesus anchored her through every chapter of life. In times of hardship, it was this inner strength-divinely rooted-that carried her forward.

A celebration of Terry's life will be held on Saturday, September 13 at 11:00 a.m. at Blair Road United Methodist Church, 9135 Blair Rd., Mint Hill, NC.

In lieu of flowers, read a weird book, go to a concert you're too old for, or make something with your hands. Most of all-be kind, curious, and completely yourself. That's what Terry did.
