Thomas Teet Obituary

Thomas W. Teet
Mr. Teet, age 87, one of nine children and a resident of Morningside Assisted Living of Gastonia, NC, formerly of Charlotte, died January 14, 2009 at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia, NC. A service to celebrate his life will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday in Mulberry Baptist Church with Reverends Macil Duncan and Glenn Naylor officiating. Interment will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens with Military Rites. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral hour.
Mr. Teet was born in Greensboro, GA, September 17, 1921 son of the late Adolphus Malon and Victoria Smith Teet. He was a member of Mulberry Baptist Church in Charlotte, a veteran of WWII, retiring from the US Navy after 30 years serving aboard the USS Des Moines.
Surviving are his wife, Katherine Smith Teet; children, Jerry Teet of Jonesboro, GA and Larry Teet of Warner Robins, GA; stepdaughters, Linda Williams of Gastonia, NC, Vickey Benfield and husband, Roger and Denyse Downer, all of Charlotte; grandchildren, Gerry Benfield and wife, Dena of Mt. Holly, NC, Jeff Brown and wife, Tiffany of Ft. Wayne, IN, Steve Benfield and wife, Lori of Mooresville, NC, Angie Bynum of Belmont, NC, Kyle Brown and wife, Melissa of Palmetto, GA, Rory Teet and Matthew Teet of Jonesboro, GA; and seven great grandchildren. Mr. Teet was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Ronny E. Downer.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the Building Fund of Mulberry Baptist Church, 6450 Tuckaseegee Road, Charlotte, NC, 28214.
The family will be at the home of Denyse Downer, 8109 Endd Court, Charlotte.
