Virginia Mosley Obituary

Virginia R. Mosley
HOUSTON, TX -- Mrs. Mosley, a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away on December 30, 2009 in Houston, TX with her family by her side. She was 77 yrs old and lived in Huntwick Subdivision for the past 40 yrs. She was born in Raleigh, NC, the only child of Orion and Virginia Russell.
She was raised by her father and stepmother, May in Key West, FL and graduated from Key West High School where she was a drummer in the marching band. She graduated with a BS degree from FSU and was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She pursued a Master's degree from UNC where she met and later married Robert Mosley.
Virginia was a true southern lady and a wonderful woman who was generous and caring, self-sacrificing and devoted to her family and many friends. She was a volunteer at NAM, the Heritage Society, Usher for the Theatre, Meals on Wheels, Huntwick Racquet Club and Swimteam, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Cy-Fair and Cypress Creek HS, Girl Scouts Leader and many other community events. She attended John Wesley United Methodist Church and was active in the ZTA Houston Chapter. She was a School Teacher, Manager at Foleys, Belks and Key West Hand Print Fabrics; Real Estate Agent and most importantly the best mother, caregiver and wife. We will be eternally grateful for the love she shared with her own children and their friends; she was 'Mom' to many. She opened her heart and home to everyone, including her beloved animals. Her greatest joy was to spend time with her family and friends. She loved to travel, read, do puzzles, walk, dance, eat out, shop, decorate and entertain. Our world will not be the same without her, but we know she will be watching over us as the best Guardian Angel ever.
She was preceded in death by her father Orion, mother Virginia, stepmother May and grandson Reese. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Robert of Houston, TX; son, Robert and wife, Regina of Austin, TX; daughters, Melanie Mosley and Beverly Mckethan of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Alex Mckethan, Aidan Mosley and Avery Mosley. Other survivors from NC are Tommie and Robert Thompson, Arlin and Irene Mosley, Sue and Eugene Brantley, Ajean Broome and Steve Melton along with numerous nieces and nephews. Additional family members include her cousins Nancy Waddill, Carolyn Lontz, Nan Rand, Nancy Rosener, Alice Rose, Joann Watkins and Laura Hill. She will be missed by a host of friends and her 4 legged family members.
The family is grateful for all of the prayers and support through this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to NAM. We invite you to gather and celebrate her life at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 31st at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 5300 Nesbit Rd., Waxhaw, NC 28173.
