Walter Hines Obituary
Mr. Hines, 86, of Charlotte, died Saturday, September 4, 2004 at his home.
The family will greet friends from 4-6 p.m. Monday, September 6, 2004 at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2004 from the funeral home chapel with The Reverend Jon Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park.
Mr. Hines was born July 8, 1918 in Mecklenburg County, a son of the late Bert Hines and Nellie May Smith Hines. He retired from the City of Charlotte in 1980 and was a longtime member of Whiting Avenue Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hines was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lois Webb Hines, in 1992.
Mr. Hines is survived by his children, Edward Hines of Matthews, Harvey Hines of Falls Church, VA, Shirley Osborne of Matthews, Gary Hines of Charlotte and Kimberly Levins of Charlotte; brothers, Vernon Hines, Floyd Hines, Garmon Hines and G.W. Hines; sisters, Ruby Land and Jenny Fisher; twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by his loving brother-in-law, John Webb.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Make a Wish Foundation of Central & Western NC, 1523 Elizabeth Ave., Charlotte, NC 28204.

On behalf of Charlotte Technical High School Lunch Bunch, I send our deepest sympathy on the death of Walter Hines. I'm not sure if Walter attended Tech High, but I know that some of his siblings did.
