All the fond memories of Bill came rushing back and continue to appear to me so vividly; our long summer days playing tennis and swimming with Bill, Keith, Bill Anderson, John Shoffner, Robert Shuford and others at Cherokee, followed by so many great times together at tennis tournaments, other sporting events and local spots like the Pizza Cove. What Bill brought to every gathering and every visit to the court was a contagious spirit of fun, laughter, graciousness in his demeanor and natural ability that left an indelible mark on us all. My last opportunity to speak with Bill and Beth was at The Masters a few years ago, before their departure to London. He had not changed one bit, still possessing the great smile and attitude that made you feel great to be around, a joy in life captured by Bill that he held tightly and displayed openly. His family & friends carry it as well, keeping them all in our memories and hearts, as Beth and Bill's legacy carry on. Our hearts and prayers continue daily, including those of my wife Ella and boys Christopher and Cameron. It was a privelege to call Bill my friend.

As a member of the medical field, I find myself reading the obituaries. I learn of the lives and families left behind for those that I had cared for. Today, as I read The Observer, my eyes swelled into tears. I read of Dr. Brumley first, then Mrs. Brumley. Then of those that followed. Such accomplishments in each of their lives, both the elder and youth. Once I read the last of them, my heart was pouring out to each of the survivors. I pray that each of you will be able to overcome such a tragic loss of your loved ones.
