William Roland Obituary

William Henry Roland, Jr.
Mr. Roland, 76, of Charlotte, died Thursday, January 25, 2007 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. He was born on August 15, 1930 in Nashville, GA, son of the late William Henry Roland, Sr. and Zora Bell Hester Roland. Mr. Roland was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in the Korean War. He was active in the Masters City Little League, a member of the Goshen Plantation Country Club and the Ambucs Club in Augusta. He enjoyed golf, the Atlanta Braves and loved spending time with his grandchildren, Matthew and Elizabeth.
Mr. Roland is survived by his wife, Dorothy Gatheral Roland; son, Chris Roland and his wife, Shannon of Charlotte; two grandchildren, Matthew and Elizabeth Roland of Charlotte; sister, Louise Royal of Tifton, GA; and brother, George Roland of Franklin, TN.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 29, 2007 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 3016 Providence Rd., Charlotte with the Reverend Edward J. Sheridan, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn East Cemetery in Matthews. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 28 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. at Harry and Bryant Company, 500 Providence Rd., Charlotte.
