Charles Bettis Obituary
He was the son of the late James and Annie Ruth Bettis. He was a native to Cherokee County and lifelong resident of the Pine Log Community in Clay County, N.C.
Charles was a local businessman and entrepreneur. He enjoyed raising Beefmaster cattle on Bettis Farms with his son, and being a doting grandfather and great-grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Corena Reece Bettis; his son, Sonny Ray Bettis; his daughter, Margaret Bettis Stalcup; sisters, Louise Watkins and Patsy Martin; and great-granddaughter, Madeleine Homan.
He is survived by his son-in-law, David Stalcup (Ruth); daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Bettis; brother, Edward Bettis (Alice); brother-in-law, Jack Martin; four grandchildren, Stephanie Homan, Emily Fehn, Kristina Herriman and LoriBeth Godinez; and seven great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Evelyn, Maisie, William, Eric, Caroline and Anna.
A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at Pine Log Methodist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Kevin Miller officiated.
