Charles Hotcaveg Obituary

Charles "Charlie" Clifford Hotcaveg III, 84, of Burnsville, Va., passed away on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025, surrounded by family.
He was born on March 11, 1941, in Port Jefferson, N.Y., a son of the late Charles Hotcaveg and Helen (Depta) Hotcaveg Remski.
He graduated from Port Jefferson High School in 1959. On June 29, 1974, he married Elaine Teuber.
Charlie gave his life to the Lord at age 80 and became a member of Faith Covenant Family Church.
He lived an active life and one full of adventure as a clammer on the waters of Long Island, R.I., and Florida. Following his retirement, he assumed a quiet life in the mountains, where he enjoyed time spent coaching wrestling, hunting, gardening and raising his grandkids.
In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank, Richard and Dennis.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elaine Hotcaveg of Burnsville; a son, Charles Hotcaveg IV of Melbourne, Fla.; daughters, Helen Schmalmaak and husband Carl of Palm Bay, Fla., and Erica Beers and husband Rob of Burnsville; granddaughters, Rachel Taylor, Evelyn Beers, Anna Beers and Emily Beers; and most beloved grandson, Robert Beers.
In memory of Charlie's faith in his Lord, the family invites all to join with them for a regular church service (of your choice) on Sunday, Nov. 9, either at Life Line Ministries, 136 Fairview Lane, Hot Springs, Va., or alternatively at Faith Covenant Family Church, 241 Redemption Road, Hot Springs, Va., both services at 10:15 a.m.
Additionally, a graveside funeral service will be held later that day at 4 p.m. in the Lee Lockridge Cemetery located on the Beers' farm, 154 Windy Lane, Burnsville, with pastor Steve Shaver officiating. Following the service, all are welcome to join with the family in a meal at the home of Rob and Erica Beers.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Burnsville Volunteer Fire Department, c/o Joyce Alexander or the Burnsville Rescue Squad, c/o Betty Alexander, either donation mailed to 8601 Muddy Run Road, Burnsville, VA 24487, or the McDowell Volunteer Fire Department, c/o Delbert Rexrode, 527 Windrush Lane, Doe Hill, VA 24433.
